Nightmares

Padme work to the sound of thrashing coming from the adjoining room. I appeared that Anakin was having a dream.

She climbed out of bed and without pulling a robe over her skimpy night gown.

Anakin was trashing around in bed. Padme could see that he wasn't having a good dream. He kept moaning something about his mother and Padme wondered what was happening to her in the dream.

Not noticing that he was wearing nothing but sleep she kneeled next to him on the bed and gently shook him awake.

His eyes flashed opened and he pulled her into his arms. With his head tucked in between her neck and shoulder he sobbed.

Padme held the sobbing jedi padwan, gently stroking his back and comforting him.

Her fingers felt tingly as she stroked his bare back. The sink felt warm and soft under her cold fingers.

This was a side of him she knew she was the only one to see. The vulnerable young boy who feared for the life of his mother. Not the fearless jedi padwan who was going to bring balance to the force.

He looked like a sleeping god curled in her arms. She wished she could just make all the nightmares go away so he could sleep well.

Slowly she sobs receded. His grip loosened and she wiggled away and started to get up.

"You look like an angle in that," the voice came from the bed. It was muffled but it was loud enough for Padme to hear.

She looked down at the almost see through night gown and blushed.

"I better go," she said quickly.

"Please stay, your presents is calming, it might help me sleep."

She sighted and crawled back into the bed. She purposely put herself on the opposite side of the bed from him but to no avail.

He wrapped his warm, muscled, arms around her waist and pulled her to his chest.

She laid her head on his chest and lost herself in his warm embrace.

She knew that attachment was forbidden to the jedi but they could worry about that in the morning.
