Cho/Harry – set at the Yule Ball
She dances past him and he feels the pull to dance after her, to abandon Parvarti and pull her from Cedric. It was only misfortune that he had been too late to ask her first because he knows that there is a huge probability that she would have said yes. But he had been a tongue tied chicken, too fearful of the pack of girls Cho always hangs out with and that meant that Cedric had managed to spear her from his grasp.
She gets closer and closer and all he can see is her hair, the long and luscious black colour that is so similar to his own. He wants to reach out and bring her close to him, allowing him to be able to smell the strange smell she has, to be able to press his lips to hers carefully, yet he knows he can't. She's here with Cedric and it wouldn't be sporting to take her from him.
Yet he can dream and he imagines walking over to her and telling her how much he loves her, how much he wants to be with he, and wondering what her reaction would be. So, as he sits down with Parvati, he contemplates what would happen.
…
He would walk over to her confidently, because nothing else would do, and he would say, "Sorry, Cedric, can I have a word with Cho?" before he would pull her with him regardless of her date's response. Then he would ignore her protests (if she had any) before taking her into the corner of the room he has already identified as private enough to talk to her without being interrupted or overheard.
He would then turn towards her and pull her closer to him, feeling the body heat pass from her to him as just her touch warmed him up. He would look past the confused expression on her face to read her eyes, seeing that she is happy that he has done this, no matter what she may think.
"Cho, I love you and I need you to know that I do," he would say to her with a small smile, the fact that he is telling the truth ringing in every syllable of the sentence. Then, he would wait for her response, hoping that she wouldn't rip her hand from his and stalk off…
In his dreams, Harry would wait patiently whilst Cho's mouth opened and closed several times, waiting for her brain to form an appropriate response.
"I… I came with Cedric," she would murmur after a while, but almost to herself, not really wanting to confess it. Then she would turn back to look at the Diggory boy standing not too far away, already talking to someone else – in Harry's mind, Cedric never really felt anything for Cho.
So, with Cedric already with someone else, Cho wouldn't feel guilty about turning back to Harry and nodding with a smile on her lips. "I… I love you too," she would say, Harry not caring that it is too soon for their mutual love being professed because it is his ideal world, not reality.
Then he would move a step closer to her and press his lips to hers, allowing them to connect finally. Her hands would move to lock themselves in his hair whilst he felt the pressure of her lips against his. They would be together finally… and happy.
…
"Are you going to ask me to dance?" his date asks him, shaking him back to reality. But then he shakes his head slowly, the regret that this hasn't really happened and never will happen rising over him. So his date walks off with someone else whilst he sits there, trying to block out the pain of his dream.
He sighs as he watches Cho laugh at something Cedric says, internally wishing that it is him standing with her, not him. But he knows it isn't and it never will be: he doesn't have the guts to walk up to her and tell her how he feels.
So he continues to sit and watch her, keeping the words he would say to her floating around in his head, never to be said.
Sorry, the ending didn't work amazingly.
