A/N: Hello Friends! If any of you have read my other Secret Garden stories, you will know that I love Dickon/Mary more than any ship ever. However, I decided to take a break from their loveyness and take a closer look at Colin (despite what you might think, I actually think he's a fabulously written character). So, please enjoy your reading!

Ever since Colin was a boy, he'd had trouble differentiating needs from wants. Did he need another scone? Did he need another story? Did he need Mary Lennox? He could never really tell.

There were certainly days when he thought he needed her. Throughout the entirety of his youth, he never felt happier than when he was with Mary. Some friends came and went, but she was a constant, always keeping his feet grounded. Yes, she didn't always need to be by his side, but he always tried to be by hers.

There were also days when he thought he wanted her.

Sometimes, Colin thought he might even be in love with her. But those instances were so few and far between, he felt and overwhelming urge to push them to the back of his mind. But than again... Why wouldn't he want her?She had helped him through so much, and although she hadn't always been kind, she had changed his life for the better. Who could blame him for thinking, wishing that she could someday become more than just his cousin and confidant?

Still, as he watched her grin as the moor boy fumbled to place the thin band on her ring finger, he felt an overwhelming sense of warmth course through his body. How wonderful it was, to see everything he ever needed finally get everything she ever needed.

She caught his eyes from the small crowd and flashed him a quick smile before returning her soft gaze to that of her beloved.

How very wonderful indeed.
