Here's my oneshot for badeprompts: Something New.
Jade Oliver
Beck stares at the sleeping girl next to him. Her eyes seal closed as the plane soars across the large ocean between California and Hawaii.
To compromise with Jade, Beck had suggested they marry in California to make everything easier for relatives, and honeymoon in Hawaii.
He interlaces his hand with his new wife.
Wife.
The word sounds weird in his head. He can't really grasp the fact that he and Jade are married now. Although the wedding happened only a few hours ago, the entire event is a blur in his mind.
It seems too good to be true. That he could be marrying someone as amazing as Jade West.
But now she's not Jade West, he reminds himself. She's Jade Oliver.
Jade Oliver.
A faint smile appears on Beck's face as he runs a hand through Jade's hair, thinking the name over and over again in his head.
It's not like he hasn't thought about it before, quite the opposite actually. He can still clearly remember the few conversations he and Jade has had about marriage, one taking place when they were seventeen years old.
Flashback
They had been lying in his RV, arguing over some dumb girl they Beck had apparently 'flirted with'.
"Jade. I don't want to be with anyone else! You're perfect!" He had told her, flailing his arms to make the girl understand.
Jade was silent, pondering the statement Beck had just said. "Surely their has to be one thing you'd change about me?" She said coldly, just to prove how wrong he is.
Beck pondered, taking her statement seriously.
"There is one thing," He said truthfully, coming closer to her.
Jade flinched, ducking away, angrily. "What?" She said icily.
Beck laughed, his arms curling around her, to her annoyance.
"Well, someday I hope I can change your last name," He whispered to her, trailing kisses to her ear.
Jade was prepared to be angry, but after a moment of understanding her face lit up with a grin. She turned to Beck, kissing his lips and nuzzling into his chest.
He wasn't sure, but he thought he heard her mumble the word, "Someday," As she was drifting off to sleep.
End Of Flashback
He's done it, Beck realizes. She's Jade Oliver now, he's engraved a part of himself on to her name.
She has a new last name. A new last name to begin a new chapter of their lives.
