A boy laughs from the wings of the stage in the auditorium. Small noises of guitars being tuned come from the instruments held by the kids onstage. The recital prepares to begin. The boy stops laughing. The boy with the acoustic guitar taps his foot in a beat. "One, two, three…"
The small band of acoustic, steel, and bass guitars and a giant cello-bass-thing begin to strum and beat hard on the strings in an upbeat harmony.
A lanky, 13 year old boy sits out in the audience somewhat excluded from the popular groups, who are goofing off with the girls and fake cigarettes. The band's music fills his ears. Oh, how he wishes he could become one of them.
"Missin' time…" the lead singer vocalizes.
Chester V. curled up in his seat, alone in solitude. He feels like he was wasting time inventing. Even though it is his only way to comfort himself, it is somehow holding him back from what he wants.
"Chemicals cloud around your mind…" the lead singer sings again.
Chester could only bury himself in ideas for new, innovative things, but he knows there is something wrong with his brain. It is almost like chemicals are… clouding around his mind.
"The day is short, the task is great…" the singer sings repeatedly.
Chester only has a matter of time before he's rejected from everyone in the school, not to mention all the students in the popular group. This was his great task, but in that short window of time, how was he to do this? All on his own. No help. Nobody there. Not even his parents.
"The day is short the task is great." The lead singer repeats the line once more.
The boy clenches his fists as the music jumps up to the maximum. A scowl grows on his face quickly.
"Tell me when I've had enough! I've had enough!" The lead singer sings louder.
Steaming, Chester stomps outside and shouts to whoever may hear him, "WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY LIFE!?" He collapses on the ground trying to catch his breath. Those rejecters had no idea what was happening with Chester in his home life. No friends, no family, no anyone there for him.
Just then, Chester has an epiphany. Who needed those insecure losers anyway? Chester was doing fine on his own with inventing (and an occasional new foster home). He'd had enough of the popular clique making fun of him, and he sure didn't want to do that himself.
Even though he was considered a nerd and an outcast to everyone, Chester V. was going to show the populars what he was made of… starting with his inventions and world-changing innovation.
