Billy's POV
I practically rolled over Charlie in my haste to get him from the room.
"I had a great time fishing! See you soon! Bye!" I rolled towards him, effectively forcing him through the doorway.
I rushed to the phone and called Sue.
"Hello?" I heard a tense voice.
"Sue what's happening?" I demanded.
"Jake's right side was crushed by a vampire," Sue said quietly.
"Edward did what to my son?" I roared. I assumed that only an experienced vampire could hurt my son and, quite frankly, Edward had the motivation.
"Billy, calm down! It wasn't Edward, it was a newborn."
"A newborn hurt my son? Not Edward?"
"He was trying to protect another pack member and was caught unprepared."
"Is he going to recover?" I winced, hoping the answer was yes. If not… well, you don't want to know.
"Yes, Dr. Cullen is working on him."
"What?" I thundered. "Dr. Cullen is treating him?"
"Billy, he's our only choice."
"No, I am not letting that vampire fix my son!"
"It will be fine Billy. He got Jake to phase back and may have to break some bones that set wrong, but the pack will hurt Cullen if he hurts Jake in ways he shouldn't."
"Since when do we allow bloodsuckers," I spat the word, "to treat the tribe, the protectors, the werewolves? He's a vampire, Sue! Why should we trust him?"
"We have no choice," Sue repeated grimly. "Who else would understand why Jake is healing so fast? This is the best we can do. Get ready for them; they'll be over soon." The phone disconnected.
I slammed the phone into the receiver and sighed angrily. I turned my wheelchair and my mouth dropped open.
Standing in the doorway, pale-faced and shocked, was none other than Charlie Swan – the person who I had tried to get out of the house for the simple reason of calling Sue. But here he was. He pointed to the kitchen table.
"I forgot my keys."
A/N: Absolute nonsense, written at least five years ago, but it still amuses me, so I thought I'd post it. Thanks for reading!
