A/N – For the Graphic Design Competition held by MelodyPond77.
The Competition was to create an image for the avatar of her story Sort of a Half-Blood along with a piece on the symbolism of the image.
I created two, and this the first of them.
I wanted to show the feeling of doubt and insecurity she felt when meeting the Potters, and how she slowly began to just roll with it.
Or…maybe I'm just reading into my own image? Lol.

Okay, I'm done now. Read, my minions!
She looks out onto the ocean, her arms cradling her body.
She's so confused.
Why can't she just be free from doubt and worry for once?
Why can't she just be free?
Free to fly, to stretch her wings?
She looks up.
The sky today is a moody one.
Clouds tinted gray just barely border on a blue.
The air is thick with the smell of salt, and her feet are cold as the waves recedes from around her ankles.
Her bare feet sink into the sand.
It's moist, and as she looks around her, she can see the wet tracks the waves leave as they come and go.
There's a beauty, she muses, in the way that the ocean moves.
Like a captivating dance, but a dance without a partner.
She understands.
Alone and solitary, but her life has been turned upside down.
Just like the way the water rolls, her life has suddenly taken a different turn.
But no one wants to go through life without a partner.
Especially when you're trying to dance.
So she joins in.
And as the waves roll around her feet and her hair dances in the wind, the alone and lost feeling that tightens her chest slowly begins to leave.
It sinks through the tips of her toes and rolls out to sea on the crest of the waves.
And she dances.
Dances with the wind and the water, breathing in the smell of salt and sand.
Dances under that moody sky, her arms flung out from her sides.
It's utterly beautiful.
