Remembrance

She looked at the huge statue that had been set up a year after the war had ended.

There had, she knew, been a ceremony to commemorate the statues being raised.

Of course she had been there herself, had given a speech about how everyone whose name on the statue had put their lives above everyone else's. How they had done so much to help defeat the evil that Lord Voldemort had been.

There had been some discussion over where the statue should be placed.

Some had suggested The Ministry of Magic but that was flatly refused by her. So had the idea of putting it in St Mungos, she had said that it just didn't seem appropriate for that sort of place. So she suggested a place that people could visit anytime they wanted. Where there would always be people, young and old, to look at it and remember what was sacrificed.

When it was suggested, everyone decided that yes, THAT would be the perfect place to place the statue. And so it had been on that bright sunny day in the grounds of Hogwarts School For Witchcraft And Wizardry, they had gathered. All the teachers had assembled their houses to sit in front of the statue on chairs in neat rows, that wasn't too much trouble she smiled. It had been, after all, the first day of a new school year, so everyone was at school.

She had taken the stage that had been set up in front of the statue. It was she thought, looking at it, a beautiful statue. 10ft tall and made out of pure gold, it had taken 6 months to make. When they made it, they made it the partly the best that had ever been or was ever likely to be.

After she had given her speech, she read out the names of all those all had died in the Second War:

Cedric Diggory

Sirius Black

Alastor Moody

Fred Weasley

George Weasley

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore

Nymphdora Tonks

Neville Longbottom

Harry James Potter

She looked at the statue, which was shaped as a bigger version of the Fountain of Magical Brethren but with the addition of the Hogwarts Crest with the four house crests surrounding it.

She looked at it and smiled.

Minerva McGonagol was happy with life at last. She knew that he would be proud.

The only regret she had was not telling Dumbledore how much she loved him. Still there would be time for that later she knew feeling age getting to her.

She went to her office and sat down behind the desk. She used all her energy to do one more powerful spell. She used her last spell to send her to the through the barrier between life and death to join the people in spirit. Ghosts, really she thought, as her mind began to die.

She became a ghost, joining the resident ghosts of Hogwarts. She left her body behind and went to the Great Hall. But when she got there she had a shock (for a ghost that was she thought).

There, hovering in front of the golden throne, was Albus Dumbledore.

"I have been waiting for you, Minerva McGonagol" he said.

"I know your secret, we're together at last."
