"Ruby…" Jio Freed murmered in his sleep. It had been a number of years since he last saw her. Since he last saw everyone. He was stronger yes, he had his new O-part yes, but he was still missing something. That something was Ruby. He slowly opened his eyes to the daylight shinning through the window.
He walked out of his room sometime later, to be greeted by Mei. She smiled brightly at him. He walked through a room ignoring Mei. She stared at him, confused. He stopped but did not look back at her. He picked up his back pack and strapped it on.
"Thank you for everything…Mei…" He said to her with his back turned.
"You sound like your leaving! Why?" She asked him alarmed.
"I have to find her…I have to find Ruby…" He said walking again. People around the village watched as he headed out of the area. Mei chased after him.
"Jio! Wait!" She called. He stopped. "Where are you going?" She half yelled.
"To find Ruby…" He began. "I've waited and trained long enough…"
"Who's Ruby?" Mei asked now completely lost.
"Ruby is…" He paused trying to think of a word to describe her. He flashed back to when they first met.
"I'm done being your body guard!" Jio yelled. "You have no money!"
"Be quiet will ya?" Ruby yelled back. She sighed then smiled. "Then let's be friends!"
"Friends?...you say we're alike but your wrong…how could anyone say we're alike when you lived so happily with your father!" Jio yelled.
"She is…" He murmured. Mei watched him, waiting for an answer.
"Her father was killed…yet she always smiles…" Jio heard from around the corner after he ran away from her. 'Ruby's father was…damnit!' Jio ran back to where he knew she'd be. The man with 666 tattooed on his head through a bag on money at him.
"Jio…just take the money and leave." Ruby said quietly. She was still smiling.
"Why…why…WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS SMILING?" Jio finally yelled.
"Because…crying got me nowhere."
"Well who is she to you?" Mei asked becoming impatient.
"I've decided I don't want to be friends…" Ruby began. Jio stiffened. "I want to be true friends."
"Bah! I'll be you're body guard…and you'd better pay me!" Jio retorted.
"But I'm broke idiot!"
"She's…my friend." He finally said and turned towards the desert. Mei clenched her fists in aggravation.
"So that's it….you're just gonna leave?"
"I've got to find her…"
"What about when you find her? THEN WHAT?" She yelled after him.
"I conquer the world!" He yelled back grinning. Mei stared at his disappearing figure. She sighed.
"Who ever that Ruby girl is…she's lucky to have such an idiot for a guy."
