A little one-shot that popped into my head. I'm sure its been done before but I don't care I haven't read it so…. Here it goes. My first GG fic!
"I love you," Jess whispered. Rory stared at him for a moment and didn't say anything.
Jess realized she wasn't going to say anything he just walked away and went straight to his car. He should have known she didn't feel the same way. Of course she wouldn't, he left her without a word. And this was the first time she had seen him since then. He shouldn't have come back. But he just needed to tell her the truth for once.
"Wait!" Jess heard Rory call after him. He spun around to see Rory running towards him.
"What?" he asked somewhat impatiently.
"When I thought of all the possible scenarios of seeing you again, I never thought you would be the one to say that," Rory told him slightly rambling.
"Rory, what's your point?" jess asked. It was obvious she didn't feel the same way about him and he just wanted to get away from Stars Hollow.
"Jess…" She trailed off looking down at the ground before meeting his gaze. "I-I love you too."
They looked at each other for what seemed like an eternity. It wasn't awkward at all. Then Jess took a chance and put his hands on either side of her face, his lips hovered above hers as if he was nervous. Rory took the chance and reached up and kissed him. Her arms wrapped around his neck pulling herself closer to him as if it was possible.
The kiss was filled with feelings from a year ago. With feelings that they tried to ignore that they had for each other. Rory had always hoped that this moment would happen. Even Jess did too, because well he always had a soft spot for her.
Moments later they broke apart both of them breathing heavily.
"Thank you," Rory whispered, blushing.
"Why are you thanking me?" Jess asked amused a smirk playing on his lips.
"Because you-you came back and well that kiss…" Rory was obviously embarrassed by now.
"Well your welcome," Jess smirked. "So shall we hit the fire light festival?"
"No," Rory said. Jess was obviously shocked. "I think we should go somewhere else."
And with that Rory grabbed Jess's hand and pulled him away from the festival. She led him down the road. Then he realized where they were going. A special place to both of them. The bridge.
And for the rest of the night they sat next to each other feet dangling off the bridge, Jess's arm around Rory's shoulders and her leaning into him. They stayed there just talking or in a comfortable silence.
