HaMa'eiven Yavin
She sat at her desk listening to McGee tap on his keyboard probably instant messaging Abby so Ziva began to brace herself for a massive hug from the happy goth.
She looked at her desk she had no paperwork her last case had been four months ago she felt Tony's eyes burn into her skull but not a piercing glare of anger instead a softer stare one of worry of deep concern. She looked up hoping to catch his eyes and for them to have one of their eye conversations where neither one of them spoke she felt a wave of disappointment when she saw him diligently doing his paperwork which he detested so much though she still saw the hint of smile not a DiNozzo smirk the one he showed the outside world instead a Tony smile the one he rarely showed other people. The one that occurred when he was truly happy. The one she had missed so much. She knew he was happy to have her back.
She looked at Gibbs desk remembering the last time she sat at it after Amit Hadgar one of her father's men had blown her apartment to pieces to tie up the loose end of an officer who Tony had already killed. Ziva felt a familiar surge of hurt as she thought of Michael Rivkin not because Tony had hurt her by killing him (though that still hurt but time would heal) but because Michael had hurt her by lying by playing with her heart as if was a soccer ball. Gibbs words from four months ago played in her head.
"Ziva that was your home" Gibbs said.
"That was not my home" She tearfully whispered.
She swiveled the seat behind the plant which was man hands Janice's idea to help her remember how important life was by caring for another living thing. Ziva had believed the idea to be ridiculous but really wanted the job at NCIS as she was now certain she could never return to Israel while her father still stole precious oxygen from those far more deserving of life and would do anything to prove she was stable enough to work on Gibbs team however crazy she believed the psychologists ideas to be. The plant she now realized provided and excellent vantage point she could be aware of her surroundings and not look creepy for facing the elevator every time it dinged. She leaned back on the desk putting her blistered feet on the desk mentally cursing the new boots she was breaking in. Abby ran out of the elevator.
"Ziva" she shrieked engulfing Ziva in a hug "isn't it great to be home"
Ziva looked at Abby over the years she had come to realize home was not about the country of your birth or the apartment you slept in. People make a home. Abby, McGee, Gibbs, Ducky and Tony were her home it did not matter that she had nothing no possessions, no apartment she had them.
HaMa'eiven Yavin I am home she thought silently as she nodded to Abby and Gibbs walked in carrying coffee oh it felt so good to be home.
