Author's Note: I haven't read Soul Eater for so long! I decided to edit up this one-shot once I figured out how (or rather found a loop hole of replacements) and thought I'd start here before returning to the world of Soul Eater! By the way, people might not like reviewing, but I like reviews, and not giving me what I want is so not cool. Get me? So press the green button at the bottom of the page.

Reading through the Boards

"An, did you get any homework?" Mifune asked as the pre- teen orange haired child bounced through the apartment door dressed in a rainbow of green from the ribbons in her hair to her striped knee high socks. Her large brown eyes turned to her guardian at his voice and she grinned at him.

"Not a lot," she responded in a bit of a rushed tone, "I got three tests today and I don't have anymore until next week Friday and I got eighty percent and up average on a few test results the class got back." She pouted, wrapping her arms around his waste from behind, lightly fingering the band of the apron he wore to wash the dishes.

"Can I please get some extra time today?"

Mifune peered down at the twelve year old brunette over his shoulder. He then sighed, and turned his attention back to the tower of unclean wares.

"Alright Angela," he muttered, "But make sure to finish your homework and get some studying done, understand?"

Angela was already halfway towards to her room shouting out a "Thank you, Mifune!" before disappearing behind her door. Her blonde haired guardian raised an eyebrow at her skittish behavior, but decided to set that for later.

The twelve year old girl threw her backpack to a corner of the room beside the foot of her table were she noticed a note Mifune must have placed earlier which read 'don't forget to study'. She sighed.

"I won't forget!" she whined exasperated. She then jumped onto her bed and peered between the boards dividing the two apartments. She had developed a habit of spying on her neighbors, an odd couple who seemed complete opposites and were more realistic entertainment than any soap opera that her classmates described and purred over at school.

She frowned, seeing the apartment in deafening silence. She immediately praised herself for refraining from yelling out for action, as she glimpsed the girl's long raven silken hair draped over the side of the bed and muffled speeches. Curious, Angela shifted, and felt her temperature rise when she saw the girl blushing furiously beneath the comfortable and careful cage of her partner, the said egoist turquoise haired young man grinning over her, responding maturely to her weak refusals.

He leaned forward and Tsubaki, unknowingly, cringed, her grip tightening on his black sleeve. Before he kissed her though, his eyes darted over to the observing Angela. She flinched once their eyes made contact. He smirked, brought a finger to his lips for a deal of silence and leaned forward to gently kiss Tsubaki. She returned it easily, blush slowly subsiding.

Angela flinched back then and there, finding her heart thumping. Stiff limbed, she crawled from her bed and met Mifune seated in the living room, watching a television program impassively with a warm cup of coffee in his hands. He acknowledged Angela and smiled, allowing her to curl into a heap on his lap.

"Mifune?" she asked eventually.

"Hmm?" he sounded attentive enough.

"What's love?"

He glanced down at her, his coffee nearly spilling.
