"Entrust"
Lelouch vi Britannia, the Eleventh Prince of the Holy Britannian Empire, has entrusted his life to his best friend, Kururugi Suzaku, when they were little. No, not 'entrusted', rather he 'trusted' (and still does) Suzaku because they have an understanding towards each other's conditions.
Yet, why does he feel guilty with this known fact?
Suzaku didn't like Lelouch, at first, and shouted "Damn Britannian!" to his face. Britannia has invaded them, the Japanese and their country, Japan; has been stripped off of their rights and name; now the natives are called "Elevens". Suzaku despised them for this. He couldn't forgive them; Japan was a peaceful country! Why did they have to disturb them? That was why he couldn't accept Lelouch, at first, but now? After knowing the truth about Lelouch—the child's hatred towards his mother country, the things they shared in common, he grew to understand:
They were the same, even though they act differently.
Suzaku came to love him, as a friend; another person he wanted to see alive. He wanted to always be there for him, and vice versa.
But, there came a day where he despised him like any other.
Lelouch killed his sister, Euphemia li Britannia; one person who understood and thought the same as Suzaku; one person that only wanted peace and for the Japanese and the Britannians to live peacefully side-by-side. He absolutely hated—loathed, even!—Lelouch for this, and thought that he'll make him pay.
But he couldn't kill him, because Suzaku wished and asked Charles zi Britannia, The Emperor of Britannia, to spare his life. He wanted Lelouch to live on the way his best friend wished for him. He wanted him safe; start anew and forget about his sins.
Still, Suzaku thought, you can never erase your sins.
So, when Lelouch recovered his memories and made Suzaku his Knight of Zero after the death of The Emperor, they made a negotiation. Suzaku planned to assassinate him to atone for his sins when all of these acts were over.
No, Suzaku thought sadly, Lelouch saw this coming. He knew it was bound to happen, because he wished for this.
Lelouch vi Britannia hoped and wished for Kururugi Suzaku to kill him in front of many people after completing his objective, which was to become the centre of humankind's hatred.
Lelouch entrusted his life to him because he trusted him more than anyone in the whole world.
And that made him guilty.
