Within An Inch
A Legend of Zelda fanfic
Link gasped as his sword was knocked out of his hands, flying through the air and clattering to the floor several feet away. Ghirahim smirked and swung his blade, the metal biting into the young boy's side. Link cried out, falling to his hands and knees as blood oozed from the wound and coated his hand. He shuddered, realizing he couldn't move anymore. He was exhausted, his limbs shaking and his breath coming in heavy pants. He was losing too much blood.
Looking up, Link stared at Ghirahim with wide, terrified blue eyes. The man was grinning down at him wickedly, his teeth gleaming as he raised his sword slightly. 'I'm going to die.' He thought in panic. 'I'm going to die and I'll never see Zelda again.'
Ghirahim chuckled, pressing the flat of his blade lightly on Link's cheek and slowly slid it down to the boy's chin, leaving a trail of blood on the pale jawline. "I must say, you did better than I expected." The man drawled, tilting Link's head up with the sword. "Though, that's probably only because of the sword you wield."
Link clenched his teeth and closed his eyes, waiting for his life to end. A laugh caused him to flinch slightly, the cold blade uncomfortably close to his neck. "Oh, Sky child, this has been so much fun. But I'm afraid it has to end. I can no longer feel the girl's presence and I have so much important business to attend to."
The boy's eyes flew open as the blade disappeared and a hand gripped his hair. He stared into the smug face of the Demon Lord, still unable to move. Ghirahim grinned and patted the boy's cheek. "I did promise not to murder you, and I am a Demon of my word. Until we meet again, Sky child."
Giving Link's hair a ruffle, the man snapped his fingers and disappeared in a cloud of diamonds.
Link stared at the empty air, his heart pounding relentlessly against his ribs and in his ears. His vision spun and his limbs gave out, sending him slumping to the floor as his world went black.
-A Destiny Obaké fanfic
Okay, so I was talking with a friend of mine a while back and we were talking about this scene in the game. Ghirahim specifically says he won't outright murder Link, and so I thought, 'what would it be like if Skyward Sword had a mechanic where you could actually lose to Ghirahim and it was still part of the storyline? Like if you didn't die.' And so this little horror show was born. I hope you enjoyed.
