James Potter I
I. When he first met his fiancé's sister and brother-in-law he assumed the muggles would be impressed by his magical abilities. As a livid Vernon Dursley chased James out of his home, claiming that James' innocent attempt to change his wife's nose into a bird's beak was "evil, no-good, and disgusting" James made a mental note to use a less offensive (and in turn, sadly less hilarious) spell next time he tried to impress the Dursley's.
II. When Sirius asked, James told him that the most beautiful sight he'd ever seen was Lily in her wedding dress. It was a lie though. Although she had looked beautiful on the day of their wedding, the image that came to James' mind whenever he kissed his wife's forehead and told her she was the most beautiful woman in the world wasn't the one of her in her wedding dress. Instead, he thought of the night him and Lily spent in Saint Mungo's. Just thinking about that night made his ears ring from the memory of her screams. She was sweaty, tired, screaming, and in pain; during that particular moment any sane man would've chosen to date the Giant Squid over Lily Potter. But James was no sane man, and for the rest of his life he'd think that Lily during her last few moments of pregnancy and her first few moments of motherhood was the most beautiful sight in the world.
III. When James was a kid he used to promise that if he ever had a son he wouldn't coddle the boy like his parent's coddled him. He'd be the best father a son could wish for; he'd be cool, never yell at the kid, and let him have anything he wanted, go anywhere he wanted. Then James held the newborn Harry Potter in his arms. All thoughts of being cool quickly subsided, as James quickly realized that the only thing he cared about was keeping his son safe.
