"Love doesn't make the world go 'round; love is what makes the ride worthwhile."
- Said by Franklin P. Jones
February 14th. St. Valentine's Day. Psh. What was the big deal? Miyake Sora never knew or cared. It was just a day, like the one before it and the one after it. Another commercial holiday like Christmas was quickly turning into. Another reason to waste money on somebody. Somebody Sora didn't have. But...he wasn't bitter, oh no. Not in the least bit.
"Hey Sora."
The said boy blinked, turning around in his desk. It was forth period and they were having a Valentine's Day party, "Yeah?" He asked, titling his head in question at his blond haired friend.
Kuramoto Roxas, the boy who received the second highest number of valentines after Tanaka Riku, sat on the corner of Sora's desk, "How many valentines did you get?" He asked, stealing a little heart shaped cookie from Sora's plate of party food.
Sora shrugged, slapping his hand away from his plate, "Don't know, I threw them all away this morning." He said in an offhanded way.
"Aw, why'd you do that. You must have broke a lot of girls hearts." Roxas said in a pouty voice, poking the brunet, before stealing another one of his cookies.
Sora snorted, "Valentine's Day is overrated." He pointed out, moving his plate away from Roxas.
Roxas frowned, "You just never had a valentine, have you?" He asked, crossing his arm.
"So? I don't need one." Sora said simply, biting the head off of a cupid cookie before sighing. Okay, maybe he was a little bitter and jealous. But, Roxas didn't need to know that.
"Everyone needs a valentine, Sora." Roxas said in a matter of factly tone as he eyed the boy, "Even Riku managed to find himself one."
Sora rolled his eyes, "He's been dating Axel since Halloween." He pointed out, cupping his cheek before propping it up on his desk.
"But, he has one." Roxas insisted, "And, poor little Sora doesn't."
Sora glared, "I already told you, Valentine's Day is overrated." He snapped.
Roxas sighed, jumping off on the desk, "If you say so." He said before leaning down to Sora, pressing his lips to the other boy's, "Happy Valentine's Day anyway." He said, setting a card on the table before walking away.
Sora blinked, watching Roxas walk up to the table laid out with all the food, making himself another plate.
What had just happened here...?
Sora picked up the card and opened it to read the little poem on the inside.
The roses are wilting,
The violets are dead,
The flower pot is empty,
And so is your head.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Underneath the poem, it was signed ...
Loved Always, Will Continue to Love Always,
Roxas
Sora didn't know what to do or say, or...anything. "Roxas?" He said meekly, looking up at the blond haired boy who had returned to his desk, "Wha-?"
Roxas smiled, setting his plate down, "Be my valentine, Sora?" He asked, titling his head to the side in much of the same way as Sora had done earlier.
"...Yes."
Suddenly...Valentine's Day wasn't so overrated anymore.

Note: That poem in the card...it's a real poem because one year my friend got me a Valentine's Day Card that had it in there. My lame attempt at a joke!
