AN: You can thank Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" and a long week of worrying for this fanfic. I'm so sorry for not updating this month until now, i joined this NaNoWriMo thing and wrote my my brain to mush, LOL. I hope you enjoy it and get ready for more updates in December...I hope. XD
I watch as sleep pulls on your eyelids, they begin droop ever so closer to oblivion. You reach for the switch, opening the final gateway to your wonderland.
"I wouldn't do that, little nasty things hide in the dark," I sigh.
You pause, rubbing the sleep away from your heavy eyes and sit upright. Your eyes glitter like polished jewels as you ask me to continue, I detach myself from the darkened corner of the room and come close to you. "The darkness holds many things my friend," I croon to you, brushing soft locks of hair from your face.
"It's the thing that makes people go mad…makes them take the knife and plunge it deep into ribcages, tickling their sides when the burgundy elixir comes forth. It holds monsters that whisper in your ears, turning a lovely dream into a disturbing nightmare."
I smile as your face begins to pale, but I carry on with my tale, "They often watch you sleep."
"Who's they?" you whisper, fingers trembling on top of your sheets.
Rain falls suddenly bringing with it deep rolls of thunder and lightening, each drop and strike makes you jump in fright. I lean forward, even though the scent of cinnamon rolls makes my nose burn, I did not want to miss this.
"They" I whispered, "do not have a name. They come from the deepest pits of madness. Razor toothed with bloodless eyes and skin, they come to your room." Your ashen pale lips trembled as you asked a fear laced word, "Why?"
That was a good question; I quickly raked my brain for a suitable answer, giggling madly as I answered.
"They want your body…they cannot go out into the light. They wish to feel the sun on their skin and have a warm summer breeze lift their hearts to the heavens with joy. However, none have the courage to take your life, to wrap their ice-cold fingers around your windpipe and squeeze.
"Or to take the downy soft pillow on which you lay your head and smother your face until your skin turn blue and eyes like glass. So they look at your dreams, popping out your eyes with their needle like nails and savoring each drop of blood that pours out your sockets to get inside your head. They study your wants and wishes, the deepest and darkest thoughts you dare not say aloud.
"They learn of love and heartbreak, joy and despair…all from you." I see the crystal tears that have formed in you eyes; your eyes reflect my crazed smile as I wipe the water from your cheeks. "So now my friend I think it is time I left so that you can drift into the unknown," I give you a wave and rise from your bed.
I walk over to the switch, my fingers itch with excitement as the porcelain lever steals warmth from my hand. "Goodnight," I sing to you as thick darkness surrounds us.
Your scream brings a full blown smile to my lips.
