Brown hair
toppled down strong shoulders
She laughed,
bright green danced and sparkled
Words were clumsily scrawled on paper,
a love poem
like the rest
to be discarded
in nervous fear
Were there words for her beauty,
fought by hours in war and hardship,
marked by strength stronger than steel?
His hands trembled
for his mind drew another blank
She was still too beautiful for the page.
