It had started off slow. We had been working late, The Chief and the Lieutenant had already gone home for the day. It was around 1:35 AM I believe, the heat for the night already cut from the lines. Me and him had huddled close to each other on the Chief's green office couch to stay warm. He'd been looking over schematics for a radio he'd been designing. I watched as he shivered and placed his hands on his shoulders attempting to warm himself up. I picked up the blanket that had been draped over my own body and placed it over his shoulders. He nodded and held the thin blanket around himself. I got up, opening my mouth to ask a simple question.
"How about some hot chocolate?"
He looked up and nodded at me a small smile perking on his lips. I smiled back and went outside to the mess hall where they were serving the hot chocolate. Holding the Styrofoam cups in my hands as I quickly walked back to the Chiefs office. I found the little man asleep head propped up on my blanket as though it were a blanket, the book he'd been reading resting on his chest, glasses smashed up agents his face leaving little marks as tiny snores and noises escaped his slim pale throat. I placed the lukewarm hot chocolates on the desks in the middle of the room before going over to him and sitting down on the couchs armrest. My hand gently brushed against his forehead and he let out alittle sleeping sigh. I let my fingers prance along the lines forming on his forehead smoothing them down gently. Another little sigh escaped him gently sending a shiver up my spine.
"Kain..."
I Managed to say softly before I felt him stir gently beneath my hand.
"H-Havoc? Did you call me?"
His voice was slurred gently with waking drunkenness. I pulled my fingers away gently wrapping them around the cigarette that rested on my lip.
"You fell asleep. I was trying to wake you up..."
He smiled for a moment.
"T-Thanks..."
"I got you the hot chocolate...It's over there. But it's been sitting there for a while now...So it's probably going to be 'Cold Chocolate'"
I pointed to it laughing lightly. He stumbled up and picked them up bring one to his lips.
"Not really...Their still warm..."
He walked over to where I was and rested his back agents the white walls by the door before handing me my own cup. Even with me resting on the armrest I was nearly twice his size.
"Hey Havoc..."
"Ya?"
"Have you ever cared for someone but been unable to tell them your true feelings...?"
The cigarette in my mouth wiggled alittle as I gave my answer
"Ya..."
"Me too..."
He let his head plop onto my shoulder and I understood. I understood just who This "Forbidden Love" Was. I smiled alittle and put my hand on his shoulder holding him tight.
"It's going to get colder tonight..."
"My dorm doesn't have any heat..."
"You can stay at my place until you get it back."
"And if it never comes back?"
"Then You'll stay with me forever."
"That...Sounds nice..."
