The Only Thing He Ever Wanted
He sat alone in the field, about fifty meters away from everyone else, playing together, having fun. The wind blew through his messy blonde hair as he watched them, wondering why they hated him so much. It wasn't just the other kids, though. Adults would give him dirty looks as he walked down the street to the ninja academy, and some of them threw things at him, yelling and calling him a demon child. After years of not being accepted, he put on a mask of sorts, pulling pranks on people, acting as if he no longer cared what they thought of him as he would cover buildings and monuments with graffiti, or go around breaking things. The truth was, though, he did care. Nobody paid attention to him unless he was doing something bad, breaking some rule, so after a while it was all he knew. Day after day, before and after school, he would run around causing chaos in the city of Konoha. It didn't make anybody accept him, but at least it was attention, right? It was more than he got at school, where his peers always ignored him or insulted him, and his teachers didn't care whether he could do what the class was learning or not. Whenever he heard the teachers talking about the students, they would call him "Uzumaki, the Kyuubi kid." He didn't understand why they called him this, but it just added to his resentment of everyone.
On his last day in the academy, the final exam was to make a clone of them selves. Nobody expected the damn Kyuubi kid to do anything worth noting, so when he came into the exam room, Mizuki sensei had already failed him. When he tried to create a clone of himself, he created a miserable, zombie-like copy of himself, and it was lying on the ground, squirming as though it was choking on something. Mizuki laughed, and told Naruto a lie about how he could still pass by being able to create a shadow clone, or another forbidden jutsu. Naruto, desperately wanting to become a full-fledged ninja, stole the scroll that had the forbidden techniques written on it, learned to create shadow clones, and the rest is history.
About two months after that, Orochimaru attacked Sasuke Uchiha, placing a cursed seal on his neck. Naruto tried to help him, but he couldn't. At the end of the Chunnin exams, when the sound village attacked, Naruto saved Sakura and many others from Shukaku, the one tailed raccoon demon inside Gaara of the desert. Still, when he came back, nobody gave a flying fuck about him. Instead, they all praised that damn Uchiha, even though he hadn't done a god-damn thing to help. Once Sasuke was taken by Orochimaru, Naruto confronted him at the Valley of the End. Naruto, who had actually believed that Sasuke was his friend, was forced to fight the Uchiha. He was defeated, and Kakashi found him, but the Uchiha was already gone. Once again, when he returned, almost nobody had come to ask if he was all right. The only person who came to see him were Haruno Sakura, his crush, who asked him where Sasuke was, and yelling at him for not trying harder to save him, and Hyuuga Hinata, who fainted the second she started talking to him. Nobody had come to see him for three days, and he was about to go to sleep, when he heard his door open. Standing in the doorway to his hospital room, he saw Yaminaka Ino, who was almost the last person who he had expected to come see him. Naruto barely knew her, but he knew that she was the loudest, most obnoxious girl he had ever met, or heard.
