This started as a ficlet from "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. But then I just couldn't stop.

Gio was celebrating the 20th anniversary of his deli. It was such a happy occasion for him. His wife Maria was there helping him set up and soon they would be joined by their friends and the rest of the family which included their 8 children, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. This was to be a huge celebration. There was going to be a band and games and tons of free sandwiches of course. The public were invited also. Gio wanted to thank his customers for helping his deli flourish.

Gio was in the front hanging some decorations when a woman wearing glasses and an awfully coordinated outfit came walking into the deli. He told her that the party wasn't for another couple of hours and that he would be happy to see her then.

"Gio, its me, Betty. Has it been so long that you've forgotten me?"

Gio stared at her for a few seconds before the lightbulb went off in his head. "Betty? Betty Suarez?"

"Yes, I knew you remembered me! You still love me after all these years! I knew it!"

With that Betty launched herself at Gio and started kissing him all over. Gio was completely shocked at this and it took him a second to realize what was happening and push the crazy woman away.

"No Betty, I don't love you. I'm happily married. Why would you throw yourself at me after 20 years of not even speaking to me?"

"Gio, come on you know it's not like that. You just married her to forget about me. Now give me some sugar."

Betty launched herself at Gio for the second time but this time he was prepared and stepped out of the way. Betty crashed headfirst into the wall. When she stepped back there was a huge hole in the wall and she had white plaster all over her head and face. She wasn't to be deterred so easily though. For the third time she tried to get at Gio.

"What are you doing to my husband!" screamed Maria.

Betty had a crazy look in her eyes when she saw the woman. "Oh, you're the wife are you? Well I have news for you. Gio is mine. He's always been mine and always will be mine."

With that statement, Betty looked around and ran behind the counter and grabbed a huge butcher knife. Maria screamed and started backing up slowly. Gio got in between Betty and Maria. "You're right Betty. I don't love her. You're the one for me." He kept on talking and saying everything that Betty wanted to hear. She was so wrapped up in his words that she didn't see the policemen come up from behind her. They smacked the knife out of her hand and tackled her to the ground.

"This one's a wild one," said the policeman. "Be sure you make the cuffs extra tight. Last time we brought her in she slipped 'em and we had to chase her down the road. That wasn't pretty. The chief wrote me up for that."

Gio turned to his wife and wrapped her in a tight embrace. Everything was going to be okay.
