Get in the Car and Drive (A/N: just an errant thought really, the song reminded me of S&E.)
Weeks had passed quietly with no word from Eric. I won't pretend it didn't smart, his silence, but I was less than eager, shall we say, to hash out the parameters of our relationship. So you can imagine my surprise when I got home after the night shift to see him perched aside his Corvette in all his Viking glory.
He looked every inch a dream. A recent dream. A recent, personal dream. Ahem. Eyes up Sookie, I admonished myself.
I could feel how amused he was, and it irritated me more than a little.
"Hello," I said with no inflection.
"I'm sick of waiting for you to haul your cookies up to Shreveport, so I decided–"
"To stalk me," I interjected.
"I prefer the term 'consciously observe,'" Eric replied, his eyes twinkling.
"Whatever helps you sleep at day," I said smiling.
"That would be dreams of you in wet t-shirts, in my shirt, in no shirt. Well, that and Bill's self immolation."
"Doesn't that mean?"
"Setting himself on fire yes," Eric replied. "But we did not meet to discuss flaming Bill or shirtless Sookie," he retorted eyeing me speculatively.
I blushed deeply.
His only reply was to say, "Shall we?" and nod in the direction of the house.
I followed silently.
We sat on the couch angled toward each other.
"Sookie," Eric began, "you care for me ," he declared.
"Do I?" I asked, unable to allow his assessment to pass.
"Yes, but that's beside the point–"
"Excuse me," I said growing more agitated as he spoke.
"It is a moot point, but what is also a moot point, is that I care for you as well," he said, his eyes narrowed.
"You just want-" I began.
"You," Eric said simply. "All of you."
He awaited my response, but I just sat there like an idiot with my mouth hanging open.
"When you decide to be with me, you know where to find me," Eric said, kissing my lips softly.
I held back a smirk as he walked away. As much as I loved that blue ribbon ass of his, he'd look even better walking toward me.
Walking upstairs, I hummed under my breath. I had to make a trip to Shreveport soon. (A/N: hehe)
Get in the Car and Drive by Eli Young Band
Hello it's just me the distance I lost somethin in between
I've waited forever for this to get better
She said how can I believe in something
I can't see or feel with my fingers
Yeah, how can I believe?
And I said, any time you think you wanna be my lover
That's a reason to do what you're thinking of
Any time you think you wanna come on over
Stop asking get in the car and drive
Stop asking get in the car and drive
