The Report

In The Apartment Before School

"Good morning mom! Please tell me you haven't been up all night on that computer?" I say as I walk out of my bedroom towards

the kitchen to get some breakfast.

"Morning baby! And no, I haven't been on the computer all night, I just got up early this morning."

"...Mom..how many times do I have to tell you..my names not baby, remember?" For some reason I just can't stand it when she

calls me that. I'm 16 now and I'm no longer "her baby" I've only got two more years of high school left before I leave for

university.

"Oh..I thought you meant when your friends were around, and I have you know that you will always be my baby, no matter how

old you get. I gave birth to you, therefore you are 'MY' baby, you got that?"

"Yes ma'am. Always your baby..got it. I'm heading off to school now, we've got some timed report thing that we have to do

today, normally I wouldn't be worried but this year they didn't give us the topic ahead of time so its going to be a big

suprise. Wish me luck okay?" When it comes to writing I definatly took after my mom. I love to write. I do it all the time.

Sometimes I will be sitting in class taking notes and BAM, before you know it, I'm staring at the beginning of a novel and

have no idea what the hell is going on in class. Gets me into trouble sometimes, but I'm a favorite with the teachers because

I turn my work in on time and don't back talk.

My mom looks up from her laptop. "Good luck honey, but I doubt you'll really need it. I know your going to do fine."

"Thanks mom, see you later. I love you." I say as I'm unbolting the locks on our apartment door. As I'm closing the door

I hear her say ditto. It's our thing when were both in a hurry.

At School In Takeru's Creative Writing Class

I barely make it to school on time. I can feel the excitment building up in my stomach as I make it to class and take my

usual seat next to my best friend Hikari Yagami. She leans over and whispers to just as the bell starts to ring..

"You barely made it on time today, what took you so long?"

"I slept in..." I had more to say but as soon as I made eye contact the words just managed to slip my mind. She always

manages to take my thoughts away. She looks at me and smiles

"Lame excuse." she says with an adorable giggle. I laugh too for a second. But then our teacher started to speak up.

"Good Morning Class! Today is an exciting day for us. Today we get to find out the "mystery topic" of what we all will be

writing on." I've got to admit, Mr. Akumi is by far my favorite teacher.

I am offically focused.

"As you all know this is a timed event. You've got three hours to complete this. There is no requirment on how long it has to

so you can relax. Are you ready for the topic?"

I can hear a couple impaticent people say yes.

"The topic is, the person sitting to next to you. We don't have assigned seating in this classroom so there is a reason why

you sit next to the person you do. There is an even number of students in this class and with the way the rows are set up

you should have no problem figuring out who to write about. And please, this is going to be kept private so be honest. The

person you are writing about will not be seeing the paper ok? Now you have three hours. Please begin."

Half the class erupts in questions about how this in completely uncalled for but I just look at Hikari and smile. She is

blushing, I wouldn't be suprised if I am too.

"Wow Takeru..I don't even know where to begin." she whispers to me.

"We have been best friends for 9 years now, I know you can think of something..just be honest." I whisper back.

I lean back in my chair and stretch. With my pencil in hand I begin..
