This is just a little oneshot about Thalia and Percy bonding and becoming the cousins that we all love to read and write about. Onto the story!
Thalia Grace, the Lieutenant of Artemis, was on vacation.
Artemis had allowed her a two week vacation to Camp Half-blood to visit her friends. So far, the first day had been amazing. She saw her friends, got hamburgers with Percy and Nico for lunch, and even pulled a few pranks.
She even stayed for the sing along around the campfire, and even if it was corny, she still had a fun time.
The only downside was going to sleep.
Thalia had no love for the Zeus Cabin (or Zeus himself) and didn't want to stay in the Artemis Cabin without her sisters. (No she wasn't lonely! It would be different staying there all by herself!)
But it was late, and she had to make a decision. As a result, she trudged reluctantly to Cabin One.
A bad and to the perfect day. Thalia thought resentfully.
Hours later, Thalia laid in her bed in Cabin One, unable to close her eyes.
She could feel Hippy Zeus's eyes on her, glaring holes into her head. The cabin felt large and empty, almost like a tomb instead of a cabin.
She silently cursed Morpheus for not letting her enter his realm, and sat up, seemingly had enough with trying to sleep in a mausoleum.
And so, Thalia set out in search of a better place to stay for the night.
She went cabin by cabin, ruling out each one as she passed.
Some cabins like Hera's were honorary, and were ruled out immediately. Almost every other cabin she passed had more than one person in them, and she didn't want to bother people by waking them. Most cabins were ruled out because she didn't know the person staying in them.
She didn't stay in the Hades Cabin because Nico slept like the dead and that cabin freaked her out.
Nearly back to Cabin One, Thalia stopped in front of Cabin Three; the Poseidon Cabin.
She wondered if she was even allowed in the Poseidon Cabin, being a child of Zeus.
He isn't like Zeus though, he actually cares about his kids. He's pretty lenient too. Thalia thought to herself.
In the end, she prayed that Poseidon wouldn't strike her down, and knocked on the door, hoping Percy would answer.
And answer he did. Percy stood there in his pajamas, which consisted a plain blue shirt and pajama pants with fishes on them. He was rubbing his eyes, and his messy black hair was messier than usual. She couldn't blame him for that since he had just been sleeping.
"I know it's late, but do you think I could I stay here for the night? I don't want to stay in Cabin One." Thalia asked tentatively, her confidence abandoning her in sight of her cousin.
Percy suppressed a yawn, but it still came through in his answer. "Sure, I have plenty of room."
He stepped aside to let her pass, and she finally got a good look at the Poseidon Cabin.
It was a pretty large cabin with 6 bunks, with the two bottom beds taken. One was messy with candy wrappers strewn around it, obviously Percy's. The other bunk was made and neat, but had a large dent in it, as if someone heavy had been sleeping there. That one must have been Tyson's. Each bunk had a chest at the end for storage. There was a Minotaur horn and a dented shield on the wall. Near the back, there was a fountain gurgling that had a dozen gold drachmas, and right next to it was a door that led to the beach. Off to the right was a door, and Thalia guessed that it was a bathroom.
She chose a bed at random and set her things in the chest haphazardly.
Then Percy spoke, drawing Thalia's attention.
"If you don't mind me asking, why did you ask to stay with me?"
Thalia hesitated before she answered. "Well, the Zeus cabin is imposing and really lonely, and I thought that you wouldn't mind having a roommate."
"What about the Artemis Cabin?"
"Um… I don't want to stay there without the other hunters."
"Lonely?" he was dead serious as he asked the question, and Thalia was glad he wasn't joking.
"Yeah."
Percy nodded, understanding.
"Besides, you're my friend and you have the most room."
Percy smiled, "I am also the only one with a full bathroom."
"I didn't even know you had that."
"I haven't had it long. It was a birthday gift from my dad."
"I wish my dad would give me for something for my birthday, even if I don't age." Thalia grumbled.
"Zeus isn't the best parent, is he?" Percy guessed.
"Not by a long shot," she scoffed.
Uncomfortable and awkward silence ensued, only to be broken by Percy's suppressed yawn.
"Not to change the subject, but we should get to bed."
"Yeah, we should."
Percy and Thalia crawled into their beds, and Thalia felt an air comfort and security settle around them; one that she had never experienced before, even in the Artemis Cabin.
"Night Pinecone Face." Percy mumbled sleepily.
And just as Morpheus allowed her access, she mumbled a response in the form of, "Goodnight Kelp Head."
Maybe this ending wasn't so bad after all.
That morning before anyone else was awake, Percy helped Thalia gather all of her things and she permanently moved into Cabin Three.
The rest two weeks passed too fast for Thalia's liking. Spending time with her friends and family was just what she needed. (If you asked her, she would never tell you that she like spending time in Cabin Three with Percy the best.)
In no time, Thalia had departed from Camp Half-Blood, already looking forward to the next time she went back.
I hope that this was okay! I'm sorry if the characters were a little OOC, but I tried to make them as realistic as possible. Don't forget to tell me what you think and how I can improve.
