Sitting on the roof, gave Greed plenty of time to talk to Ling. Likewise for Ling.

Today they were quietly thinking of the past, of friends and love.

"Did you ever love anyone, Greed?" Ling Yao asked.

An image of a woman past through their shared mind.

"Not really." Greed muttered.

"Are you sure?" Ling asked the always truthful homunculus.

"Why wouldn't I be?" Greed asked his companion soul.

Ling shrugged.

"Why did you ask me about love? Do you love someone, Little Pissant?" Greed asked the heir of The Yao Clan.

"I think so." Ling muttered; an image of a teenage girl entered their shared mind.

"Your guard?" Greed questioned his friend.

"Yeah." Ling muttered.

Greed was stunned to realize that all he wanted was friends like Ed's, and that wasn't the only startling realization that Greed had made that day.

He realized that he did in fact love someone.

That woman was Martel.

He didn't love her for her beauty; he had seen prettier woman in his ridiculously long life.

He loved her for her.

It was sad that nothing had ever come of it.

Greed had also sacrificed himself to see her again.
