UGH! Who knew learning to ride a bike would be so difficult? Well, no one mentioned it to me. This is the third time that I have fallen off this stupid bike.
"Are you okay?" Dave yelled four feet from where I had fallen… Again!
Obviously he could see that I hit the ground and the chain on the bike had come off. I am really starting to get irritated with Dave. He is supposed to be helping me learn to ride this thing, or at least that's what he said he was going to do
"NO! FELL AGAIN!"
"Oh Jesus" was the only response when Dave saw that I was off the bike. That really made me want to punch him in the balls, but I held back the temptation as he helped me right the bike and fix the chain.
How much longer are we going to do this? was the only thing on my mind. I needed to get back to the house for something very important to both of us. At least, I hope it's that important to Dave.
Dave sighed, "Mindy, Give it another shot, I will be right next to you this time, you are doing great."
I could tell he really thought that I was finally getting the hang of riding my bike so I figured what could it hurt? It wasn't like my entire body wasn't already sore enough from the damn thing.
Dave stood the bike up and helped me get on. It really felt nice to have him steady me. My daydream had me so caught up that I barely heard what Dave said next. The last thing I heard was "…If you can make it back to the other end of the block."
"Mindy, See if you can make it to the end of the block."
Dave is so nice, I mean he is holding my hips steady when I become unbalanced. It feels good" It gives me the strength to keep with the bike that only appears to want to tell me that it is the boss, which it is NOT!
"Hey, Dave? Thanks for helping me conquer my bike all afternoon; I know there are places you would rather be."
"No, it's okay Mindy, you are doing a great job and I enjoy spending time with you."
That made my day!
