Out of the Sea
AN: First to get the technical things out of the way I don't own anything that comes from the game Bioshock, those belong to 2K and their affiliates. Anything not from that belongs to me. Now for the other part, I was looking online and couldn't find any fanfics about Rapture being found in the modern day so I decided to write one of my own. I hope you like this but mostly this is being written for me. After these first few chapters I can't promise that chapters will come out in a timely matter. If you do review my story then please don't flame it.
Chapter 1: Introduction
Present
From the outside the house looked dark and deserted, like every other house on the street. There were no lights visible from any of the windows. But this house, unlike the others, was not abandoned. The person in the house was making sure that no one would come inside. In an interior room, far from anything facing the outside was a room with a dim light that came from a small table-top lamp. Also on the table were a blue vial and a shotgun. There was a girl that was no older than 25 sitting in a desk chair next to the table, and in front of the girl was a video camera on a tripod.
The girl took a breath to start talking to the camera when there was a loud bang coming from somewhere close. The girl's hand immediately jumped to the gun. After three tense minutes there were still no other noises and she relaxed, putting her hand back on the arm of the chair. After waiting another minute the girl started to talk.
"My name is Leigh Tregan. I was a Journalism major in college, which is what dragged me into this mess to begin with. We were doing one of those hokey documentary shows that are becoming more popular than actually history on the History Channel. Our topic of exploration was the location of Atlantis and we were searching near Iceland, a theory that was popularized by the Disney movie about Atlantis but not widely known outside of that.
"The sponsor of our expedition, Louis Dodd, was wealthy and a self described "Atlantis nut". He provided us with a submersible that would allow us to actually search for the city itself, and his only requirement was that he was coming down with us. We had a boat with the producers and most of the production company waiting on the surface, and we crammed nine people into that sub. There were the three "experts", the scientist, the financier, and myself, and there were the three camera crews made up of two people each just in case we actually found something. This was all set up by Louis who wanted us each to have our own camera crew in case we actually found something. I don't think that any of us besides Louis actually thought that we would find anything let alone an actual city. Unfortunately we were wrong."
AN: This chapter ended up being shorter than I thought it would be. When I went over it in my head it always seemed much longer than this. Hopefully the next chapters will make up for it. Also I want to say that all dates and names in this story are arbitrary and have nothing to do with real life.
