Severus Snape had been a lonely man after Lily Evans died. He thought that he'd never be able to love again; but he was wrong, very wrong. For Severus Snape usually underestimated himself and this story is a perfect example of how he realised this.

One morning, as Severus made his was into his old, floral-pattered bathroom, his eyes fell upon a rogue bottle of shampoo. This lonely container had been sitting, unused for seven years. Snape had never seen the use of shampoo; the odd muggle product seemed such an easy concoction to brew when he compared it to the many potions he had made throughout his career. However, there was something about the shampoo's sleek, white body and anti-dandruff guarantee which was now enticing Severus beyond his wildest dreams.

He picked up the bottle and with a passionate 'pop', the lid sprang open. Instantaneously, a sweet aroma of lilies ensnared his senses as he considered the possibility of this lily-scented shampoo filling the hole left in his heart which was once occupied by a certain Miss Evans.

Suddenly, Snape felt the urge to remove his clothes and turn on his rusty, dry shower. He let his greasy, matted black locks revel in the hydrogen oxide compound before excitedly unleashing the gooey, smooth shampoo into his hair. He had never been more entertained since a delinquent youth stole his conditioner bottle ten years previously.

When he emerged from the shower, Snape dried and dressed himself before stealing another glance at the shampoo. Suddenly, he felt a pang of guilt course through his newly-refreshed body.

"Oh Shampoo, you must forgive me; I never meant to use you and the leave you behind like my other Lily did. Please give me another chance for you are my new-found love."

Then, without warning, the bottle slowly slid into the deep, grotty depths of the bathtub as if to show offence taken at Snape's womanising actions.

"No! Shampoo! Don't leave me!"

But it was too late; the amazing liquid which was once much-glorified by James Potter before his untimely death, had accidentally leaked itself down the drain. Severus was devastated and from that miserable moment on, he knew that rejection was written in his stars. He wanted to bury his poor shampoo, until he realised a small message written on its bottom:

'Snivellus,

As I got Lily, you can have this much-needed gift,

Prongs.'

Snape threw down the empty, cracked bottle in disgust; all his guilty feelings had disappeared as he once again realised that Lily had been his only chance at true love.
