A/N: Okay, so this is my first shot at Kyro, so bear with me. It's a bit on the short side and a lot different from the others I have written.

The night was cool and chilly, but Kitty Pryde didn't care. She was supposed to be in bed already, but tonight was one of those times were sleep is inadequate.
She needed to think. She wished Jean were here. She always gave Kitty great advice, not to mention help with her Science homework. But Jean was gone now, along with Scott.
She sighed. Xavier Institute will never be same again.
A sudden rustle made her turned around. She stared at the dark clump of trees and surveyed every piece of scenery. Nothing.
Must be a squirrel, she thought.
"Hey, Kitten."
Kitty's eyes widened as she turned around.
There, leaning on an aged oak tree and looking very smug, was John Allerdyce.
"What are you doing here?" was the first thing that popped out of her mouth.
John continued to smirk. "Shouldn't you be asleep, Kitten? It's already past your bedtime. They'll be worried about you." He motioned to the Institute.
"What's it to you?"
Unfazed, John stepped closer to her. "You know I cared, Kitten."
"You cared? Don't make me laugh. You left the Institute, you left the X-Men, and you left me. Is that what you do when you care for someone, huh, John?"
The tears started flowing but Kitty didn't bother to wipe them away. She had wanted to say that for a long time. Ever since she found out that John had left, without as much as a goodbye.
John wasn't smirking anymore. His features were now livid as he spoke again. "This place was suffocating me, Kitten! Everywhere I turn there's a rule I need to follow. You know I hate that crap!"
There was silence, except for Kitty's hushed sobs. "So, I guess this is it? You're leaving me, while you get yourself out there killed?"
"No."
Kitty stared at him, expecting him to say otherwise. "What is that supposed to mean?"
John closed the gap between them as he hugged Kitty tightly. "I mean, you're not going to be alone anymore, Kitty-Kat."
Kitty hugged him back. John held her cheeks and gently kissed her forehead, something that surprised Kitty.
She laughed softly.
"What is it?" asked John. Kitty smiled at him.
"Nothing."
"You're really weird," he said, his smirk building up again.
"Oh, but you love me anyway," replied Kitty playfully.
"Yeah, I do," John answered, his smirk replaced by a genuine, warm smile.
Hand in hand, they walked back together to the Institute, their laughter ringing in the silent night.
So, what do you think? Good? Bad?
Anyway, thanks for reading!
