I do not own Full Metal Alchemist... I wish I did though.
Enjoy!
Martel didn't want to admit that she was starting to like the younger Elric brother. Things just wouldn't work out. She was a monster after all. There was just something about Al's never ending kindness that made her smile. Of course she never smiled when she was out in the open. Only in the safety of Al's armor could she smile faintly as she let the constant chinking of the armor relax her.
There were moments when Al would stumble around her when they stopped for the night. The odd thing to her was that it only happened when she was talking to him. She laughed at the memory of him falling on top of Edward one night. It had turned into a small battle of alchemy. The entire time she sat on the sidlines and watched happily.
"Martel?" Al's light voice called her name and she snapped out of her memories.
"What is it?" She asked in a slightly harsher voice than she wanted to use.
"We are stopping for the night," Al replied. His voice was quieter. Martel hoped that she hadn't hurt his feelings.
After getting out of Al's armor, Martel took a little walk. She didn't know where they were. Eventually she was back at the small camp sight. They had set it up in a small forest clearing. Edward was already asleep. He mumbled words in his sleep. Martel had a huge urge to kick him, but she didn't.
Al was sitting right by the fire with a book in his hands. The cover was worn and dirty. There were water stains on the pages, he didn't seem to notice as he flipped the page. She sat down next to him and tried occupying herself with looking around. It didn't work.
"Whatcha reading?" She asked.
"Huh? Oh, just an alchemy book. It's pretty dull." His metalic voice answered.
"I see. So Al, where are we going tomorrow?"
"Brother doesn't know. It's just going to be where ever we get I guess." He shrugged.
Martel sighed. She was tired, but she didn't want to sleep yet. She leaned against the younger Elric and sighed again. He moved slightly and looked down at her.
"What are you doing?" He asked quietly.
"Resting my eyes. Is it okay if I lean against you?"
"It's alright, I guess."
She smiled to herself. This simple act had her feeling better than she had in a long time. The smile faded as she began to get drowsy. Just being with Al was enough for her now.
