So there are absolutely loads of these out there but I wanted to give my own take on it! I've never really given much thought to Cato or Clove so this really is just a spur of the moment fic. I would really appreciate some reviews, it makes my day to see that people enjoy the stories that I write! Hope you enjoy it!
Together Forever
Silence. I don't like silence. It keeps you on edge, makes you expect something to happen. Of course, you're always expecting something to happen in the arena. It wouldn't be right if it didn't. But I still feel awkward here on my own, I'm so used to having people around me. Now they've all gone and it's just me and Clove. Beautiful, smart, dazzling Clove. Her image flashes through my mind, looking stunning even in her worst moments. I can hear her voice in my head, fluent and full of joy. My name flowing off her tongue, making me feel warm inside. But then suddenly, my name isn't only being called in my head.
"Cato!" the voice is undoubtedly Clove's but it doesn't sound like her usual joyful self. This voice is shrieking, full of terror and agony. "Cato!"
"Clove!" I reply before I start running, quick as I can, towards the noise that brings dread to my mind. All I can think of is Clove. I don't care about who I encounter on the way, I just need to get to her now.
As I dash through the entrance to the clearing, I see her. I know that fire girl is dashing off, as is Thresh, but all I can focus on is Clove. Her body, breathing faintly on the ground. Before I know it, my legs are moving. Pulling myself towards the love of my life who needs me now more than ever. As I reach her I collapse onto the ground and kneel beside her small body. "Stay with me Clove!" I beg of her, grasping her cold hands in mine. "Come on Clove! You can stay with me!" even though I know in my mind that that can never happen.
"I don't want to die Cato…" Her voice is quiet, sharp with pain. It feels like I've been kicked in the stomach to hear her like this.
"You won't Clove! You just need to stay with me okay? Just stay here." My voice breaks on those last words. "Come on, we can go back together. Remember? Us two, together-" I wait for her to reply like we always do.
"Forev" a cannon announces her death before she can finish.
"No… Clove! You can come back to me! Please! Clove!" a single tear drips down and plummets onto her colourless cheek. I remember her telling me, sometime before the games, that she had never seen me cry. Now she never will…
She will be avenged. I'll get whoever did this and I have a pretty good idea of who it is. Before I run off towards the fields to hunt Thresh, I say "I love you Clove, forever together." I lean down to kiss her forehead. Her skin feels clammy on my lips, cold and lifeless. I don't want to leave her but I'll see her again soon. So I whisper in her ear, "Goodbye Clove."
What do you think then? I've been thinking that if you fancy requesting a one shot, you could suggest it to me! I can't say that I would definitely write it but I might give it a try if I like the idea:D Anyway, please review. May the odds be ever in your favour, Elena x
