Caramel – An Ash x Richie story
It seemed it had been a mistake to leave the box open in full view. Even in the darkness of the night, they knew it was there; they could literally taste it from where they were sleeping.
Two bodies climbed out of bed. Two pairs of feet tiptoed across the tent in which they both slept. Twenty fingers reached out towards the last chocolate in the box, and the forest was filled with the sound of two boys screaming as one pair of hands met the other.
A moment of fumbling later, and the tent was lit up with two torches.
"It's you!" Ash and Richie exclaimed in unison as they were blinded by the sudden brightness. "What are you doing?!"
After a moment of silence, as if they were afraid of speaking at the same time again, Ash finally got a word in alone. "What am I doing? What are you doing with my chocolate? I've been keeping my Pokemon away from that all day, the caramel ones are my favourites!"
"The caramel ones are my favourites and I've been keeping my Pokemon away from it as well!" Richie retorted in frustration, waving his torch in Ash's face threateningly.
Silence fell, and two pairs of eyes fell upon the one chocolate sitting in the middle of an empty box. One second passed, and then another, and then the chaos began.
Two people pouncing on one tiny little chocolate was bound to cause trouble.
A moment later, a collapsed table, crushed empty chocolate box and one frustrated looking Ritchie lay on the floor, while Ash held his prize, a delicious looking piece of chocolate filled with caramel, to his lips, a satisfied smirk on his face.
But it wasn't over yet.
In desperation, determined not to let the chocolate enter the other's mouth, Richie grabbed Ash's leg and pulled him to the ground with a crash. Then he went for the most obvious choice of attack. As the chocolate began to disappear from his view, he leaned forwards and grabbed for it with his teeth, but only succeeded in pressing his lips against the other's.
It was five minutes later when the attack ended.
It seemed they had both enjoyed it, and they were alike enough that really, it didn't matter whom kissed whom first.
But they were both the same, both were stubborn, and neither could admit they were wrong. After an hour or so of blaming each other, and three Pokemon battles all ending in a draw, Ritchie finally admitted defeat.
After all, Ash had gotten the chocolate, and that was the point. Right?
The next day, both of them headed off in separate directions, to separate stores, and brought two separate boxes of chocolates. All that was left in both of them by the time they returned was a caramel chocolate wrapped and sitting in the centre.
Otherwise, what would their excuse be the next time?
