Rex was standing at the entrance of the base. There was bunch of other clones and one commander. Rex didn't know him, but he knew he was under his command, so he was waiting with other clones for his orders. The commander was holding a datapad and counting the clones. He was apparently satisfied with the result as he came closer to the small crowd.

"Listen troopers! You are here, because you're leaving the army." He said.

Clones stood at attention and listened to him.

Rex gasped. I am not leaving the army! What am I doing here?

"But you have still some work to do today. I want you to pack up all your stuff and hand over your weapons and armour. We meet here again in five hours and you will leave the base."

Rex couldn't believe his ears. I don't want to leave. Being soldier is my whole life. I can't leave the army. That just can't be true.

Captain walked to the commander. "Sir? There has to be a mistake. I am not leaving the army." Rex said.

Commander sized him up and down and then looked at the datapad. "I am sorry, but your results and behaviour are not acceptable. It's not your choice anymore to stay in the army. Go now." Commander turned away from him, losing interest in the captain.

"But, sir…" Rex stammered, his body frozen with shock and his mind blank. "I can't. The army is my life. Please, let me stay."

The Commander sighed. "No. You should have thought of that sooner. You are useless for us." The commander than left, but Rex still stood there, looking around unbelievingly.

This isn't right. Army is all I have now, it's my family, friends.

Few memories of his time in the boot camp crossed his mind. I can't lose it. What am I without the army? Nothing. Alone. Lost.

Rex slowly walked through the base. He saw his brothers and his home, but now they seemed to be so distant and out of his reach. Rex's heart sank. I belong here. What would I do as a civilian? Even the thought of a civil life scared him.

His steps were still heavier and heavier. The base and Rex's surroundings became blurry. Captain blinked few times but he couldn't stop the tears.

No, I can't leave. I won't leave! This is all I have. "I won't leave." Rex sobbed to himself. He felt invisible as all of his men nearby seemed to ignore his presence.

"No, I won't. You can't make me. I won't." Rex whispered it to himself, repeating it like a mantra.

...

Rex woke up and sat. His breathing was erratic and his cheeks soaked in tears. He looked to his roommate, Cody, who was sleeping soundly. At least I didn't wake him.

Captain wiped away his tears and lied down on the bed. I am a good soldier. This will never happen. I won't let this happen; he promised to himself and closed his eyes.

Notes: I know the nightmares are quite a usual topic, but I really had to write this. Please, leave a comment/review.
