The Fire Elf
By: Madison Moore
I heard screams come from my village. I grabbed my sword and jumped on Avornmin, my horse. Her name means fast one. That's why I named her Avornmin, because she is one of the Meras, a fast breed of horses. They are the line of kings and queens. She is white with black on her back, mane and tail. I rode into my village, only to find it being raided by orcs. I jumped off of Avornmin and ran to the orcs. I killed multiple before I heard a familiar orc cry. Bolg. That son of a bitch. He killed so many of my people, just for our power. I ran to my friends' house. She doesn't know anything of my past. I told no one. I barged through the door, to be met by three orcs coming at me. "You my friends, are at the wrong house. It's down in the ground." I said, charging at them. I stabbed the first orc in the stomach and slit his throat. I beheaded the second one and the third one ran out of the backdoor. I threw my dagger at the back of his skull. He fell to the floor immediately. "Lannien!" I screamed. I ran around the home, trying to find her. "Lannien!" I screamed again. "Barawen!" I heard a girl say. I heard it coming from the kitchen. I found Lannien lying on the floor, blood staining the top part of her dress. "Lannien." I said. I sat down behind her and put her head in my lap. She had tears streaming down her cheeks. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." She said. I kept shaking my head. I sniffed. "No. It's not your fault. It was them. It's okay. It's going to be okay." I sniffed, holding her hand tightly. She was turning pale. Tears ran down the side of her face. "Maer na tirad you pen brono anann." She said. (Good to see you one last time.) "Al-, dortho nan in." I sobbed. (No, stay with me.) The light in her eyes vanished.
