Chapter 1: Chapter 1

A/N:I know Katie and Oliver aren't in the same year, but for my case, she is...

Hope you enjoy this little one-shot I wrote while in the hospital waiting room when I sprained my ankle...two hours to find out that!

I don't believe in love at first sight, I believe love grows over years through friendship, trust and honesty

I also don't believe in soul mates. I don't believe that two people can be made for each other. I believe that when you fall in love with someone, its hard to change those feelings-no matter how hard you try.

When Katie and Oliver first met, they were friends in an instant, they were best friends, is there any simpler way to put that? They had a lot of the same interests, mainly Quidditch in Oliver's case. Katie had said once that he was one of the best friends she had ever had. It was true: he was a good friend to her. We were in different houses, but I could see it. Anyone who saw them together would have instantly known they were best friends, sometimes maybe more.

Years passed, and they went on to play on the Quidditch team together. They made a great team, Oliver and Katie. Wood and Bell. She was a chaser, he was a keeper. They were the core of the team, and some would say that Katie kept Wood in line when they played against Slytherin.

Time went on, and anyone could see that Katie was slowly falling for him. Though Oliver was oblivious to her affections, he also slowly fell for her. They would get teased about it, and they would deny it as much as they could, but the blushes their cheeks concealed told all.

But as I said: I don't believe in love at first sight or soul mates, or in people being made for each other or even fate. But if there is one thing I do believe in, it's in love growing over time. I believe that when you fall in love with someone, it's hard to change those feelings - no matter how hard you try. I saw them both to shake off their feelings towards each other, but it would never work. It was slightly insane, but they made it. Once they hit their seventh year, they gave into the emotions they held for one another, letting themselves become overwhelmed with the concealed feelings they had hidden away for so many years.

Now... Now we're here. Standing in a hall, watching her older sister give a speech, intentionally embarrassing the pair of them and getting laughs from myself and the crowd. It was remarkably sweet, and when I watched Katie, I saw her turn extremely red with embarrassment - I'm not sure how Oliver managed to keep it together.

"Katie, Oliver, I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. Also: Oliver if you hurt her, I will make sure you never play Quidditch again."

Katie's sister finished her speech, and I along with the crowd applauded her. I smiled widely, watching Katie stand to hug the Maid of Honour. They both took their seats again, smiling brightly at one another. I saw Oliver lean over to Katie, whispering something in her ear and her smile grew wildly. He then kissed her on the cheek, and the best man stood to give his speech. The hall turned quiet again as everyone turned to listen to Lee.

When I looked at Katie and Oliver, I almost believed in soul mates.

They were seemingly perfect for each other - time had proved to everyone that they could handle each other, and their love was something I hoped to never see die. They were almost like soul mates, and no one could tell me otherwise.

A/N: Reviews would be great :) Thanks for reading :)
