Looking behind me, I laughed as the young, brown lion stumbled down the stones. I also noticed something different about him today. He was not the same old Taka I knew. Coming back from a long journey to The Shadowlands with his brother and father, Mufasa and Ahadi, he had grown. His mane was much thicker, and the sun reflected off of its raven color. I also noticed, that while he was still weaker than his older brother, more muscles peaked through the dark fur. A chill ran up my spine when I also noticed his voice was deeper.
"Hey, Sarafina," he said, coolly. I looked at him. Our eyes met, and he moved closer to me. I shivered with delight as his paw rested upon mine. I began to move closer, and suddenly I lost control of myself. One minute I was looking at him and the next minute we were kissing one another. We had grown together, but our love had not been revealed until now. It was an unspoken love. We both knew that each one of us loved the other. I will never forget that night I shared with Taka, my first love.

A short while later Taka's family turned against him. He became secluded, and kept to himself more and more. One time, after approaching his father, asking for a scrap of meat, Ahadi struck him with his paw. The frightened Taka ran into the cave, and I ran after him.
"Taka? Are you ok?" I could hear a soft crying coming from the darkness. All of a sudden it stopped, and Taka came out into the light. His left eye had been scratched all the way from his eyebrow to the other side. He was lucky that it wasn't actually on his eye.
"Who is the Taka you speak so dearly to? Taka is dead. Scar has taken his place, and will avenge him!" There was a hatred in his voice that scared me. I no longer wanted to do with this evil creature, filled with madness, and left the cave. I ran as far as I could.
Winded, I lay down on a nearby rock. I had never been so winded, and my stomach was filled with pains. That was when I realized I was pregnant. I lay down on the rock and continued to have the love-child of my beloved Taka.

The cub lying in my arms was so beautiful. She resembled both her mother, in her blue eyes and after her father in her dark fur and the black tuft on the end of her tail. I decided to name her Witiriashiki. It means Odd Love, in Swahili, and I thought that it fit this small cub perfectly. Returning to the Pridelands, I deny that she is related to scar, but because of her dark coat I told them that I had mated with a Shadowlander. Mufasa refused to accept this, and sent her away. All I could do was pray for her…
