Disclaimer: I own the poem and that's it.

Author's Note: This is a Mother's Day poem for my mom. ^_^ Happy Mother's Day, to all the moms who are fans of Castle.

He really was the only one who knew

How afraid she was to forget

About her mother,

Though she hadn't done that yet.

He knew that she didn't want to give up hope

That someday she would get at least an answer

To the questions that plagued her

But the fear was like a cancer.

He had no problem with helping her face

Her fears and fight her demons because

He loved her; forever and ever.

One of the greatest loves there ever was.

She had strength, though, because of him.

Because he believed she was stronger than she thought.

She knew that his kind heart was his greatest strength,

Even if, because of it, they fought.

Without him she would have faded away

Into a wraith of herself, just a shadow.

She hadn't believed it, at first, but it was him

Who kept her from dropping so low.

She knew Ryan and Esposito would always be her

Brothers; around them, nothing bad would occur.

Castle knew that best of all, but he had

Proven that he would never hurt her.

They knew that, because of him,

She had the strength to face a new day

Of the unknown, of the bleakness and anger.

"Let them work out," they would pray.

The strength wasn't a one-way street though.

Beckett was Castle's rock; she kept

Him focused and determined. "Thank God

Someone could!" His mother once, joyfully, wept.

Beckett also reminded Castle that the world

Wasn't easy, but sometimes all it took

Was a little love to face the day,

And, in some cases, a good book.

They weren't afraid of the next day,

Or the next case, or challenge. They had

Each other to stand with, and the love

They shared. For that, they were always glad.

Seriousness wasn't his strong suit; unless

It was for her, and her alone.

Just like being carefree wasn't easy for her;

But she'd try. Because of him, she'd grown.

They'd seen too much to just think what they'd

Shared was casual; it was true

Love, the greatest kind. He'd written about it,

And for her, happiness was overdue.

She knew that she'd survive whatever came

Her way because she had the best

Partner of all time, and he knew it.

"Admit it: It's my rugged handsomeness," he'd jest.

One of those days she'd tell him that it

Was really his heart that made him so loveable.

Though, she agreed, he was handsome too.

Now, if only he'd stay out of trouble…

Finished. My first attempt at Castle fan fiction and I think it went splendidly.

Reviews would be lovely, but I'd be even more thrilled if everyone just had a happy day. ^_^

Flamers: My secretary is out of town visiting her own mother, and I'm not in my office during the weekends, so you'll just have to wait until we return. AND we locate the office.
