Kissing Doctor Lam

Cam Mitchell had a decision to make. A tough one. The blinds were shut and he'd closed the door himself. Kiss the girl or leave? Damn, but she was some kind of trouble.

His career was likely to come to a grindin' halt if a certain general happened to find out. But, on the other hand, his sanity was likely to come to halt if he didn't.

He was thinking of Sheryl Crow. That damned song…somethin' about 'are you strong enough to be my man'. Hell yeah!

Carolyn Lam liked to play things safe, but her time was up. Right now. She played at being the tough one. But he could see the skittish colt in her eyes. Like drownin' in chocolate lookin' there.

"I'm gonna kiss you." Cam inched forward, taking his time. "No use fightin' it, honey, cause it's gonna happen."

Carolyn's dark eyes widened. She backed up until she hit the wall of her office. "Cam."

She had thought to give him a warning; however, she realized it sounded more like an endearment. She changed tactics.

Pushing away from the wall, Carolyn met him half way. "One kiss." She offered as appeasement.

"Sure, baby. One long, never-ending kiss." His strong hand took the side of her cheek, dragging her face close to his.

Running his tongue across the line that separated her lips, Cam moved slow and steady. His mouth kissed the very corner of hers, "Open up to me, baby. Open up."

Moving incrementally, he nipped his way to one nostril, then down to take her top lip between his teeth, then the bottom one. Then her chin.

Feeling her heart accelerate and her breath become unsteady he let his hand slide down her neck, into her collar and across to her throat, all the while his mouth trailed up her chin to settle open and hungry upon her lips.

When one finger made a foray into her cleavage, Carolyn gasped. It was what he was waiting for. He sprung like a cat, claiming what he wanted. His mouth insistent, his tongue demanding.

She didn't disappoint. She latched on like a suckling babe, and he fought for self control.

He knew that under that calm, quiet exterior, a hellcat lived. Yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about!

They nearly stumbled as he backed her to the wall and laid into her with all the pent up wanting he'd had over the last few years thinking about what she'd be like to kiss.

Needing air, and a moment to get his self together, Cam broke the kiss and began to suck at her neck. He felt the change in her, but ignored it when she whispered, "Oh my god."

His lips were trailing a hot path to the inside of her shirt when he felt her go limp and heard the deep clearing of throat behind him. Ah, man, I'm dead.

Cam straightened up, meeting Carolyn's eyes and felt a little disconcerted that there was a twinkle of humor there.

He turned slowly. Really just a half turn. Enough for a quick look. Yep. Daddy. Standing right there in the doorway looking about as happy as a dead cat.

"Colonel Mitchell."

"Yes, sir?" It came out a bit pathetic as he fully turned.

"I'd like to see you in my office…when you're finished here."

"Yes, sir." He watched General Landry leave and turned back to Carolyn. "We'll pick this up where we left off. My place. Tonight. That is if I'm not in the brig."

It was all Carolyn could do not to laugh. He looked so dismal. "It'll be fine, I'm sure. Be brave." She kissed him, almost starting the whole thing up again.

"Damn, Woman. You tryin' to get me in front of a firin' squad?"

"No. Give me your keys, I'll wait for you." Her palm was out, insisting, her dark eyes dancing with mischief.

"Hellcat. Damn." He kissed her soundly, tossed his keys into her hand and rushed off to meet his fate. He really didn't care what happened. Just hoped it didn't take too much time. He wanted to get home in a hurry.
