Disclaimer: I don't own RB.

Rated K, because I don't think it really warrants any higher of a rating.

A/N: Yay, a Noelle drabble! Seriously, though, after that episode how can I not write this?

I'd just like to comment on how wonderful I'm finding the continuity on Rookie Blue. Just when it seems like they're brushing over something in the past, they bring it right back up again and continue on with it. I think it's absolutely wonderful, and not done often enough in the TV industry.

Just a quickie. Though, really, duh; it is a drabble, after all ;).

'You' is, of course, Noelle. Hope you enjoy!

Noelle Williams. Set after 'Girlfriend of the Year'.

It's agonizing.

You can hear the sound of your heart beating in your head (though the migraine's nicely muted – thank God – thanks to Nash's idea). You can hear the chatter of the station in the distance. You can hear a tap dripping in the other end of the locker room. You can hear your own foot tapping out the sharp staccato of your heartbeat.

You can see each second ticking away the slowest it's ever gone on the clock on the wall above the door.

And all of it, plus the waiting, is driving you absolutely mad. It's the most torturous three minutes of your life, you're sure.

You might be pregnant.

There might be a life growing inside of you that will continue to grow inside of you for another eight and a half months. There might be a life growing inside of you that will pop out in less than nine month's time. There might be a little baby boy or girl growing inside of you at this very moment that will someday raise their tiny little hands to you and cry for your attention. There might be a life growing inside of you that will one day call you 'Momma'.

That will take its first step towards you, and look to you for love and tenderness. That you'll get to watch grow, knowing that it will always be a part of you. That you'll care for, and look after, and that will depend on you for everything. That will look up to you, with possibly the same eyes as you.

That will one day walk away from you, off into the world; with you watching, knowing that they're ready for it. Ready to see the world for all that it is, good and bad; ready to make some of their own mistakes to learn from. Because you'll know that you've taught them all you can, and prepared them as best as any mother can.

You might be a mom.

There might be a life growing inside of you …

But there might not be.

And you have to wait three minutes to find out.
