"Will you go out with me Evans?" Potter asked for the thousandth time. Lily just sighed and cursed her fate and shouted "when hell freezes over, Potter I will go with you!
After this incident she left the castle to go and just sit next to the black lake. What she didn't realize was that she had been sitting in the same position for almost an hour. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder and turned to see her best friend of six years, Marlene McKinnon standing there concern all over her face.
"Lily! You are here! I've been searching for you all over the place"
"Sorry Mar. I was just thinking. I did not notice the time"
"Lils, is anything troubling you?"
"Potter"
Marlene gave her a small sad smile and sat next to her.
"lily, if you don't mind , why do you hate him?"
At this James perked up. Now this was going to be interesting. He listened attentively.
"Mar, I can give you thousand reasons."
"hey we don't have the time for that. Just give me 10"
"fine. Reason no. 1. He is arrogant who seems to think that the world revolves around and because of him. And he also happens to think people ought to worship the ground he walks on."
"reason no 2. He thinks bullying Slytherines for fun is his birthright. He doesn't stop to think whether he is right or not."
" hmm you are right Lils."
"reason 3. He thinks asking me out in out in public and embarrassing me is a good joke."
"reason 4. He always calls me 'Evans' and not Lily, something that has been irritating me since second year.
"reason 5. He thinks he is superior to all just because he is good at studies."
"reason 6. According to him all rules are meant to be broken by the Marauders. I am really tired of this."
"Reason 7. He thinks he is the best quidditch player in the word and."
"lily I hate to remind you, but he probably is the best." Marlene muttered something that earned her a death glare from lily.
"reason 8. He thinks that any guy who smiles or even looks at me is competition and has to be hexed."
"Reason 9. He disturbs every moment of my life either directly by being there or indirectly like this."
"what is the last reason?"
"Well, reason 10 is that he thinks I am in love with him and that I am in denial and would eventually give in to his approaches."
Marlene sighed. Lily was right. Silently thanked gods that she did not have any such troubles.
