I honestly don't remember when you first came into my life, but I do remember the first time I actually saw you.

I close my eyes and I can see the day we met
Just one moment and I knew

It was during that one duel with Bakura in the Shadow Realm. I remember looking up into your face, and wondering why you looked so much like me.

You're my best friend, do anything for you
We've gone so far, and done so much

But I trusted you enough to continue the duel. And we were able to work together to defeat Pegasus.

And I feel like we've always been together
Right by my side, through thick and thin

But afterwards, you started to question who you were and where you came from. So I and the others worked to help you discover your roots as an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh.

You're the part of my life I'll always remember
The time has come

That didn't mean there still wasn't evil to face. After a long, hard road, we finally emerged victorious at the Battle City tournament. And afterwards, we were able to stop the evil Anubis from unleashing darkness upon the world.

It's for the best, I know it
Who could have guessed that you and I...

But our next battle with evil proved to be even tougher. Not only did you have to face a madman with plans to destroy the world, but the growing darkness in your own heart as well.

Somehow, someday
We had to say 'good-bye'

Even after you betrayed my trust and played that evil card, I still sacrificed my soul for you, because you were my friend. I was confident that you'd rescue me, and you did.

You've helped me find the strength inside
And the courage to make my dreams come true

After conquering your darkness, you defeated Dartz and stopped his plan to annihilate all life on Earth, as well as saved the inhabitants of another world.

How will I find another friend like you?
Two of a kind, that's what we are

We conquered all those in our way, and after years of searching, were finally able to discover your true past as the Pharaoh of Egypt.

And it seemed like we were always winning
But as our team is torn apart

You were now able to go to the Afterlife, on the condition that we had to duel each other, and you won.

I wish I could go back to the beginning
The time has come

Now…It's finally time for you to go to the Other Side. But I'll miss you…and so will all the others whose lives you touched over the years.

So, waddaya think? Personally, I prefer the name 'Atem'over'Atemu' because I think it sounds more Egyptian.
