L and Misa have been dating for 2 years now. They were a very happy couple that they made everyone around them feel happy as well.
Tonight was L's birthday so they celebrated with their friends, Near, Matt, Mello, Light and Light's sister Sayu.
They were having so much fun, and it looked like everything was getting pretty serious between Misa and L's relationship.
Everybody gave L their presents. L hasn't quite changed. He still sits in his peculiar manner, and still loves sweets. Except, he's trying to eat less sweets.
Later, Misa wasn't feeling good so she headed for the bathroom. In the bathroom, she looked at herself at the mirror, her face as pale as a chalk dust.
"How long…?" She mumbled to herself. She flinched at the pain that suddenly struck her. She panted and forced herself to stay calm.
"Keep calm Misa…" She tells herself eagerly. When she was feeling a little better, although still a little painful, she came out of the bathroom with a big smile on her face as she sat down beside Sayu.
"Misa-chan… are you alright?" Sayu whispers to Misa worriedly.
"Yeah! I'm fine!" Misa smiles widely. Sayu looked at Misa with a worried look on her face, but shook it off and cheered wine glasses with the rest.
"Happy Birthday, Eru!" All of them cheered. L grins and cheers with the rest. As the party ended, L gave Misa a ride home. At the doorstep, they hugged.
"Happy Birthday, Eru…" Misa said quietly, almost inaudible and looked at him sympathetically.
"I love you," He truthfully tells her.
"I love you too…" She replies. He gives her a kiss on the forehead and goes back to his car.
She watches him silently, as the car drifted away. She sighs and heads to her room. She closes the door, a tear falling from her pallid, stricken face.
"I'm so sorry…" She mutters, as the tears gently fell on her delicate, slender fingers. Misa looks at the golden ring L gave to her.
She slides it off her ring finger and placed it in a heart shaped box. Taking her phone from her purse, she calls Sayu.
"Misa-chan? What's wrong?" Sayu answers.
"Sayu… I have to end this…" Misa sobs into the phone.
"Misa-chan, it's okay… I'll support you," Sayu tries to cheer Misa up. It somewhat worked when Misa smiled even though Sayu can't see it.
Both Misa and Sayu hung up eventually. Sayu walks over to her bed and looks at the photo of her and Misa, looking very happy.
"Misa-chan… I'll be here for you no matter what…" Sayu mutters under her breath.
With the sharp bangs covering her brown eyes, a tear fell from her cheek and onto the photo.

I sigh deeply as if a ground is going to cave in
