Storms
InoxSakura
Sakura dove under the covers, pulling the scratchy material over her head, ignoring the raised eyebrow her friend was giving her. "Hey…what're ya doing under there?" the blonde questioned, using her pencil to lift up a corner of the sheet. She peered into the darkness and grinned at the shorter girl's blush.
"N-nothing!" the pinkette squeaked. Fisting her hands in the covers, she yanked the fabric from her friend's hand, tucking and wrapping it around herself like a cocoon.
Ino leaned back against the couch and gently closed her text book. Crossing her arms over her pajama clad chest, she said, "Obviously something's goin on. What's the deal?" She watched in amusement as the bundle of blankets wriggled awkwardly on the narrow furniture, almost falling off the edge—if it weren't for Ino sticking out her foot to help her balance—with all of her fidgeting. "C'mon, forehead, spill it!"
"I-I t-t-told you, its n-nothing!"
"Uh huh, and you're stuttering like Hinata because…?" A brief flash of lightening lit up the room, followed by the low boom of thunder. As Sakura clutched the pink cloth tighter and made an embarrassingly high pitched squeak, a light bulb went off above Ino's head. Snatching up a corner of the blanket, she exclaimed, "You're afraid of thunder!"
"I-I-I am n-no—" her sentence ended in another squeak as the room shook with the force of another boom.
The blonde kunoichi chuckled, leaning back to her previous spot. "C'mon, Sakura! How old are you?" she teased. "You've faced scarier stuff than a thunderstorm!" She blinked when a loud sniffle emanated from within the depths of the soft cloth. "H-hey, you aren't cryin', are you?"
"N-n-no…" Sighing, Ino swooped down and, in an amazing feat of strength for any normal female citizen, picked up the pink haired girl, plopping her down in her lap. Yelping at the sudden action, Sakura momentarily fought against the hold, only stopping when a pair of warm arms wrapped around her shoulders. "Wha-what are you doing?" she blushed.
"You don't like storms, right?" the blonde questioned.
"…Maybe…"
Rolling her eyes, Ino tightened her hold on the smaller girl and rested her chin on her shoulder. "It's not so scary when you've got someone else with ya, so just relax, forehead."
The pinkette squirmed until she felt comfortable, trembling now and then when a loud crack would shake the room. Warmth from the blonde's body soaked through the blanket, wrapping around her and comforting her. Sitting so close to her friend, she could feel the rise and fall of her chest as she breathed, and found the motion calming. It wasn't until she felt her head drooping that she noticed she hadn't jumped at the sound of thunder for quite a while.
"Hey, Ino…?" she questioned sleepily.
"Hmm?"
"Will you…come over next time it storms…?"
Chuckling, the blonde pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "'Course I will, forehead. Now get some sleep."
Sakura fell asleep wrapped up in her arms, a small smile curving up the corners of her lips.
