When Everyone
When everyone went out to celebrate festivals, I couldn't go.
When everyone was talking, I wasn't permitted to.
When everyone was playing outside, I wasn't allowed too.
When everyone got to wear summer clothes, I got to wear a prissy dress.
When anyone came to my house, I must stay quiet in my room.
When I was seen by people, I was treated as a minor.
When everyone got to experience new things, I had to experience the old everyday things as new.
Now…
When everyone goes out to celebrate festivals, I tag along.
When everyone talks, I add to the conversation too.
When everyone is running and playing outside, I join in the fun too.
When everyone is wearing summer clothes, I get to also.
When people come to our "house", I'm allowed to be loud and seen.
When I met these people, they treated me as an equal.
When everyone experiences new things, I experience them too.
