Caroline Malloy walked along Birchwood Avenue thinking about her older sisters' relationships: Eddie is engaged to Jake Hatford; Beth is dating Josh, and her? She was the crazy one still living in Ohio because her rich boyfriend broke up with her for Vylette Fannings, school snob. Caroline got to her car and drove to Buckman, West Virginia where her sisters lived. Her thoughts drifted to the thought of Wally Hatford, childhood crush. She knew he could never love her, but a girl can dream can't she? Caroline sighed, it's hopeless- love doesn't exist. Her head clouded with thoughts of Wally and a girlfriend (or maybe wife) that she wasn't aware of the cliff ahead of her. She finally noticed it but let the car just move, she didn't want to live anymore.
Caroline woke up in a place she recognized as Buckman Hospital. Eddie now a scientist working for NASA in a base in West Virginia, had elbow length hair that was in a messy pony tail was near Caroline trying to wake her up while Beth, now a gothic normal sort of person had white streaks in her hair was coming in with a tray of food that looked like it's been eaten came with the Hatford boys who looked as handsome as ever, especially Wally.
"What am I doing here?" and Eddie punched her "And what was that for?"
"Scaring us to death, Crazie! What were you trying to do, commit suicide?" she asked angrily

"Ed cut her some slack, unless you want her to really be dead." snapped Beth
After sharing gifts they all went out. Wally stayed though.
"Here's your gift." he said and gave her a kiss.

Caroline quickly dressed into her wedding gown and curled her hair and braided the frond and put white daises into them.
"Caroline hurry up J.T is crying" hollered Eddie referring to her son.
