To say Clint was anxious and nervous was a huge understatment. He was practically bouncing of the walls of The Playground. When he'd found out Bobbi was undercover inside of Hydra, he'd gotten really steamed up. The yelling and cursing was easily much worse than the one when he'd found out Phil was alive.
Right now he was waiting for her to return with Jemma Simmons, who had been working undercover in Hydra as well to gather intel for Phil until this moment. Clint had met the girl and he had to admit, she was really something. Bright, her wit sharp as a blade and easy on the eyes. He thought if he wasn't taken, he'd be seriously interested.
He was sitting in the common area all fidgety when Skye passed by.
"Hey there, Clint. You look a bit nervous." She said to him.
Clint gave her a tight lipped nervous smile.
"Do I? I haven't noticed."
"Actually you look like you want to crawl the walls, mate." Lance Hunter's voice came to him and he saw the ex merc walk into the room.
"Yeah, I'm nervous. It's not everyday you have your operatives so deep undercover in Hydra, is it?" Clint asked rethorically.
"Tell me about it." Skye said. "I can't wait to have Jemma back here. I missed her like crazy."
"Not sure how Fitz is gonna take it." Hunter said.
The two of them carried on talking, but Clint tuned them out. She was comming back. Finally. Bobbi was comming home. His Bobbi. His Birdie. How he missed her. He missed their beer talks, their sparring, her scent, he missed kissing her burying one of his hands in her blonde waves and holding her waist with the other and of course he missed their night time activities.
He was interrupted from his thoughts by the sound of the big metal door opening. She was here. She was home.
Clint slowly got up as if he was in trance. Everyone was taking their turn in hugging Jemma (Skye hugged her the longest and tightest), but Clint's eyes were set on Bobbi. Her hair was now dyed brunette, but she still looked like the goddess he remembered. When Coulson said he wants her to join the team, Bobbi lifted her gaze and met Clint's.
He suddenly felt warm inside. It was like the hole he'd felt inside himself was filled now.
Bobbi smiled politely and exused herself from the director and the others and walked towards Clint. He stood in one place and kept staring at her. Then she was right in front of him.
"Hey, sport. Did you miss me? 'Cause I missed you like crazy." She said to him.
"Of course I missed you." Clint told her and pulled her to him. He hugged her tightly and she put her hands around him as well. She put her head on his chest and closed her eyes. She was home now.
"When I found out you were undercover in Hydra, I flipped." Clint whispered in her ear.
A smile appeared on Bobbi's lips.
"I can imagine. How did you get it out of Phil?" She asked.
"I have my ways. Bobbi, I'm so glad you're back."
Bobbi looked at him.
"So am I, Clint. And I flipped as well when I found out Pierce's people had you chasing Steve. I could sleep at night only after I found out you were alive and well after the collapse of SHIELD. And before you ask me, I have my ways as well." She said.
Clint smiled and chuckled.
"Welcome home, Birdie." Clint said and kissed her gently.
Bobbi eased into the kiss and felt her body finally fully relax. Right in that moment there was the exact thought in both their minds.
It feels like home
