Hey so this is a story my friend wanted to do so for the time being i'm letting her be the ultimate overlord of my account. Now onto the madness!
This story takes place in Ōto Country. (WARNING SORTA CONTAINS SPOILERS)
The twilight sun was wet and dark, as Kurogane and Syaoran approached the Cat's Eye. A long night of Oni hunting had proved no reward, and both hunters were soaked to the skin, and rather frustrated when they arrived home for the night.
As Kurogane pushed the door open, and the door bell jingled, Sakura looked up from the cake she was making. The worried frown on her face disappeared in a flash when she saw the two of them.
"Kurogane-san! Syaoran-kun!" she exclaimed. 'Finally, they're home,' she thought. She grabbed a plate of fresh cakes, and ran towards them. "You two look tired! Here, have something to eat." With that, she shoved the plate into Kurogane's hands.
Kurogane frowned, and shoved it back at her. "I'm not hungry," he muttered. He shifted his wet cloak around him, and stomped off to a chair. Sakura looked from Kurogane, as he grumbled, to the hot plate in her hands. Normally, such actions would not have fazed her. Kurogane was always a bit touchy. And tonight was no exception. However, she had worked hard that day with Fai, and was in no mood to be pushed aside. Sakura's face fell, and the joy she had felt, just a moment ago, took flight and was gone.
During this time, Syaoran had been standing at the doorway, watching what happened. Now he approached Sakura. He spoke quietly, wearily. "Kurogane is rather frustrated tonight, Sakura." Syaoran eyed the food Sakura still held. "Those look delicious. Did you make them yourself?"
Sakura smiled. "Yes, Fai taught me this afternoon. Would you like some?" Sakura watched as Syaoran smiled back, and said, "Yes, thank you," and took the plate carefully from her outstretched hands. After a quick "You're welcome," Sakura headed back to the kitchen to finish her work with new vigor.
That evening, Sakura sat in bed, looking out the window at the dreary night sky. Watching the gloomy clouds churn with the rain, Sakura thought back to that evening. In her mind, she replayed what had happened. How irritable Kurogane had been, how disappointed she had felt, and how delighted Syaoran was with her work. Sakura sighed. Syaoran always seemed to make her feel better. He was never far away when she needed him and everything he did for her was in his quiet way.
Now lost in thought, she wondered if she could ever thank him properly. "He has helped me so much," she whispered to herself. He protected her, comforted her, and saved her life, looking for her feathered memories. "And yet, he asks for nothing in return." In the back of her mind, he felt familiar to her, as if she once knew him, or someone like him. But she couldn't quite understand why.
All the lights on the street were out, and the night was pitch black, as Sakura began to grow drowsy with sleep. She listened silently to the faint murmurs from downstairs, and the rustle of the wind outside, before drifting into a light slumber, where glowing feathers and other worlds drifted through her dreams.
