Forget
A/N: I was feeling a bit angsty, so I decided to whip up a little drabble for you guys!
Curled up in a ball, Chat Noir stared at the Eiffel Tower from afar, silent. He didn't dare open his mouth, knowing the only thing that would come out would be cries of despair. As the lights turned into an unbearable haze, he felt a porcelain hand rest on his shoulder.
"Hey, Chaton." her voice echoed, hand cool yet consoling.
Chat closed his eyes, body shaking. "No, you're not supposed to be here!"
"But I am." she said softly. "Talk to me."
"I can't do it. I can't do it." Chat sniffled, tears streaming. "It's not the same anymore. The lights are too bright, the streets are lonely and it's like the world's gone dark!"
Her breath hitched. "You need to let go."
"N-No. I c-can't do that!"
"My darling, I love you too much to see you wrapped in your own anguish. You've grown up so much, and I just wish for the world to see how much of a handsome man you've become."
"Everywhere I go, is just a constant reminder of it all. And I don't want to forget!" he sobbed. "It's been a year, and it seems like everyone has let go except me!"
She sighed, her pale face crumbling with droplets of water. She sat down, hand still rested on his shoulder. "Do you know why I love you as much as I do? It's because of your big heart. You never resist what is right. These powers, they could have been used for evil, but you chose against it. And look at you now: you've become a savior of the same city I spent tirelessly looking after."
"Nothing matters if you're not here."
"You have a life to live. You've got friends, and a wonderful girlfriend who I would have loved. Don't long for me and forget about them. They are your future, not me."
"I just wish we could see each other again."
"Ma cherie, every time you look at the stars, every time you gaze at this big Eiffel Tower, you will see me watching you. I will always be with you, like I always have."
"But how will I know where you are?" Chat said quietly.
"You see that star?" she pointed. "You see that one too? I'm everywhere. Because even though the stars are so far apart, I'll always be here. You will always be on my mind."
"I miss you so much."
"So do I. Let's go and stuff our faces with ice cream and play some video games. Sound good?" she laughed a heavenly laugh.
"I love you, Mom."
"I love you too, Adrien. More than you could have ever known." she stifled a cry, lifting her arm off Chat Noir's shoulder.
But when he tried to turn around and look at her, for one last time, she was gone.
A/N: You may have been able to tell, but I was planning on making Marinette to be the ghost when I decided to go otherwise.
