Tribute to one of the best series' I watched as a teenager: Beyblade

Set after G-Revolution.

Kai Hiwatari walked slowly down through the streets where him, and the other members of the G-Revolution Team currently stayed.

It hadn't been easy in his whole life up 'till this point - What with the rise and fall of Boris (TWICE), the realisation that Tyson had a bit-beast as well, even to the point where he had to coach Tyson to be the best beyblader on the planet...

Besides him. Of course.

Well, no. In some ways...Alright, in a lot of ways, Tyson always outranked him...But one day that would change. Maybe.

Kai rounded another corner and his eyes instantly caught sight of Daichi and Ming-Ming's beyblades going head to head in what appeared to be a friendly match.

"Oi! KAI! I didn't see you there!"

Kai smirked as his attention turned to Tyson who was leaning back on a deckchair, watching the battle going on.

"Taking it easy as always, aren't you?"

Tyson frowned. "I wouldn't go THAT far..."

Kai huffed in his typical way as he took a chair next to Tyson. "Tell me-"

"Woah woah woah, are you actually sitting NEXT to me!?"

Kai rose his hand and smacked Tyson on the face. "Shut up and listen"

"OUCH! Fine! What?"

Kai sighed. "At what point do we stop doing this Tyson? I've already retired a few times..."

Tyson shook his head. "No, you THINK you retired. It's just we needed you to join us each time"

Kai nodded. "That's what I mean. We have to think about retiring soon. We can't do this beyond death can we?"

Tyson put a hand to his chin. "I dunno...Dragoon seems to think we can~"

Kai chuckled for once. "You and Dragoon always never cease to amaze me..." He got a mental message from his phoenix bit-beast and nodded, "Or Dranzer for that matter"

Tyson nodded as the battle between Daichi and Ming-Ming ended and the two young beybladers had left the area, making Tyson sit up.

"Fancy a go? For old times sake?"

Kai stood up and nodded. "May as well. Just remember, no out of control behaviour. We don't want the news crews here again"

"Ain't that the truth...Alright, ready?"

Kai pulled out his launcher and metal series beyblade as he got ready. "Ready when you are... Thick-brain"

"THICK BRAIN!? Oh, you've had it now!"

Kai chuckled again as he put his launcher into position. "3..."

Tyson was in position within moments. "2..."

They both carried on, "1"

"Let it rip!"

As the battle began and Dragoon and Dranzer began to battle one another, Tyson and Kai looked at each other. Both of the beyblades had their own colours shining on the owner's faces, making quite the picture.

But that wasn't why they were smiling...Oh no.

It's been so long since the two rivals simply beybladed for the fun of the game; that it was nice to just battle for the sake of battling. No "The world is at stake" or anything...Just simple...

Fun?

Yeah, may as well be.

[Nearby]

"I knew it!" Daichi whispered as he hid behind Max and Ray who had come to find out what Daichi and Ming-Ming were doing hiding around a street corner.

"You gotta admit, those two are the best of the best in this sport"

Daichi frowned. "If I got more training I COULD beat Kai..." After Ming-Ming looked at him he shook his head. "Okay, MAYBE Miguel"
