The town of Eureka was quiet at 6am. No problems with the gravity, no raging scientists, just a beautiful sunrise. Claudia walked past Café Diem with the conversation she just had with her bffwylion filling her mind. Talk to Parrish; that seems like the worst answer to her problem. Yes it was the simplest solution, but she could put effort into avoiding him, work on her projects at night duck in doorways when he walked by. She's never had to really have the morning after talk. With Todd, it was spur of the moment and they had to get down stairs afterward to see his handler. With Dwayne it was an unspoken rule we were drunk, it meant nothing. But with Parrish, what did it mean? She hated his condescending, pompous, arrogant, rude personality. Then there was the Parrish that brought her coffee in the morning, and covered for her when Kosan came to check on the progress and everything was failing, and when he pulled her back before the stairs fell yesterday. She then starts to think of last night and how it was much better than drunken sex with Dwayne. And it was nice to wake up next to him, before she freaked out. Claudia had ended up in front of Parrish's house. She tries the handle of the door to find it's still open from her leaving this morning. She shuts the door quietly before slipping out of her converse. Sliding on the wooden floor trying to not make a sound she rounds the corner to go into the kitchen to find Parrish standing by the island pouring a cup of coffee for himself.
"So do you always leave at 5 in the morning?" He yawned towards the end of the sentence.
"I was…um going for a morning jog?" At that Parrish raises his eyebrows. She slumps down in the chair closest to her.
"Yeah I don't believe that. Listen we don't have to make this a big deal." Claudia glances at him.
"Please go on." He starts walking over to her.
"Princess, we are just 2 people who happen to be attracted to each other. That doesn't really need to be defined." He pulls her off of the chair and pulls her into him, giving her the look that was on his face most of last night. Parrish's hand moves up to cradle her face before pulling her into a kiss. Claudia's hands move up to grab the front of his robe. He breaks the kiss apart before smiling down at her.
"See just you and me." Claudia quickly moves her hands off of him and breaks his embrace around her.
"Oh god, this is another friend with benefits. Or more like business associate with benefits." His face twists with confusion.
"What do you mean another?" She took a moment from her internalized why do I keep doing this rant to stare at him.
"I mean that I have a friend in Univille that I occasionally get drunk with and have sex." His eyes squint into the snide face I usually deal with.
"Why does it matter? "
"It doesn't, I'm just surprised that you enjoy these types of arrangements."
"I don't, but my romantic prospects are not high in South Dakota, not with my super-secret job. " He raises an eyebrow but crosses the kitchen to get Claudia a mug.
"I guess I don't have any here either." She mutters. Parrish's head turns to look at her.
"What did you say?"
"Do you have half and half?" He nods and sticks his head in the fridge to grab it. Claudia shrugs off her jacket before settling back in the kitchen chair. She guessed this was as good as she got.
